To adjust the display settings:

1. Press the flywheel control. The main menu appears.

The current display settings appear across the top of the main menu.

2. Rotate the flywheel to highlight an option. The name of the
highlighted option appears in the center of the menu.

3. Press the flywheel control to select the highlighted option, then
rotate the flywheel to adjust it.

Some options can only be enabled or disabled. There are also some
options that contain additional menus.

4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you have made all your changes.

5. Rotate the flywheel control until Exit is highlighted, then press
it to exit the OSD control system.


OSD OPTIONS:

Contrast increases or decreases display image contrast.

Brightness increases or decreases display image brightness.

Horizontal Size increases or decreases the width of the display image.

Horizontal Position moves display image to the left or right side of
the screen.

Vertical Size increases or decreases the height of the display image.

Vertical Position moves display image to the top or bottom of the
screen,

Pincushion curves the sides of the display image inward or outward.

Trapezoid increases or decreases the trapezoid distortion of the
display image.

Degauss removes magnetic discoloration from the display image.

Recall returns most options to the original factory default settings
if the monitor is currently using a preset video mode. (See the “Video
modes” section in this guide for information about the factory preset
modes.)

Advanced Option opens the Advanced Option menu. Color opens the Color
Manager menu.

Language changes the display language for the OSD control system.

User displays information about the monitor’s preset modes.

OSD Manager moves the OSD control window on the screen.

Exit closes OSD control system.

While there may be other components bad, your picture tube is most likely worn out. With age and use the electron guns get weak, and the dim screen is the result. There is no cure except to replace the tube, and that's completely uneconomical. A new LCD monitor is less than $100.

You won't be able to see it without taking the back off, but your CRT (picture tube) filament is going out. You could try to wriggle the CRT Tube Socket back on a little tighter then watch it for a while again. The PC Board should also be checked for bad solder connections in the 'hotter' areas. You should however be more open to the flat panels as the give great results and use less power. Let me know if this helps you.

It is due to dry soldering on the crt board. Try to resolder all the dry joints on the crt board.

You dont need to install a driver for the monitor. The power save mode message appears when the monitor is not able to get a signal from the computer. Make sure the the vga/blue cable is securely plugged to the back of the pc.

note: Inspect the back of your studio. You may have two blue ports where you can connect the monitor, if you do, connect the monitor to the one at the bottom half of the computer.

This sounds like it is specific to the display adapter in your PC and not the monitor. Specifically, the area that usually is affected causing a problem like this is the connection of the heavy cable running from your Monitor to the back of your PC. At the back of the PC, check to see that the knobs are screwed in tightly and the plug is not loose in the socket. In some cases the cable also screws into place on the back of the monitor, but this is more common on flat screens, check it anyway.

Otherwise, should this continue after you check the connection, I would need to know if the heavy cable from the monitor screws in to the back of the PC near the keyboard and mouse connector or is further down, much further down and connects at the back of a slot. If it is a slot, the slot is occupied by a display adapter card inside the PC. This adapter card may be loose enough to cause the problem. You would have to shut the PC down, unplug the power, remove the side cover and look for the adapter itself. It should be noticeable by the socket it has that the cable connects to. You may have to unscrew a screw holding it in place, carefully remove it from its slot (there may be a hold down release at the back end of the card furthest away from the slot itself, release that) once the card is removed, reinsert it firmly and completely, screw it back down, replace the side cover and hook everything backup and see if that hasn't resolved your problem. If it hasn't let me know, so we can proceed to another step in this process.

This monitor may not have built-in speakers. It may have supported Gateway's monitor mounted sound bar. That sound bar connected to the 3.5 mm audio out on a computer and a DIN port on the monitor. The simplest solution is to connect your source to appropriate speakers. Depending on your audio setup, you could connect the video source to a receiver with HDMI IN and HDMI Out (ARC), computer speakers or an audio extractor. (If you are using an HDMI cable between the Gateway LP2417 and a computer, you may need to reset the audio output to use basic computer speakers (3.5mm jack).) No you don't need a driver. These are very plain powered speakers that come with a mains adapter and a lead with a 3.5mm stereo jack at both ends. Plug one in the speaker and the other into the headphone jack on the front or the speaker socket on the back which will either be a socket on the motherboard, or if your son put a sound card in the computer, it will be in a sound card. If it doesn't play straight away, go into Settings - Audio and make sure the sound card or the On-Board Audio is enabled. f you want to use your touch screen on your gateway computer in an upside down orientation, there are a few things you need to do. They deleted the Operating System by deleting their own stuff Docs, images, Saved Links etc. and also everything in Windows System probably in spite. You need to reload the operating system (Win 11) from fresh. Charge them from their final pay check, or ask IT to do it.

When I Google the model number the first thing that shows is Replacement LCD Screens for it which leads me to believe there is an issue with them. There is three parts to the display, the video card section, the exciter module and the screen itself. It needs correct diagnosis, or buy a new one now you have reset it clean, if that is what you mean by 'hard restart'? You might mean 'hard boot', power off and back on without proper shutdown.
