After 90 minutes or so of perfect play back... the picture became very distorted (static) and lost the sound completely. I manually cleaned the head. Distortion is less, sound still out.

hi, please try to clean the cassette tap running path like capstan motor shaft and the inclined posts and the pressure roller Etc, check the roller for loose if any.

Moisture error code sony ccdtrv40

I've had this before. It usually occurs when go outdoors from an air conditioned space. Moisture condenses on the headwheel which will cause the tape to stick... and THAT will make a real mess! If you're in a hurry, remove the tape cassette leaving the camera open, and use a hairdryer on LOW to dry out the inside of the unit. Then allow the camcorder to cool down (not in the cool or air-conditioned room) before you use it. In the future, you should take the camera out of the cooled area still in the bag several hours before you intend to use it. To hurry things along a bit, you can put in a sealed plastic bag indoors and then bring it up to temperature, but don't open the bag until has reached the temperature of the space in which you will be using it.

When i select the power

If the memory card came with the camera, I would suggest checking the little metal sensors on the memory card to be sure they are flat and in good condition. Also, be sure the memory card is being installed correctly. Some of them go in (what I would call) sideways, and some up-side-down. If the memory card does not go into the slot easily, then try another way. If you purchased the card separate from the camera, check to be sure it is the correct one. There are so many different options when buying memory cards. Even when they seem to look just alike, some are specific to certain cameras or types of quality and types of media you want to record on them. This determines the memory card formatting, and not all formats go with every camera. (I found that out the hard way.)

My sony Handycam video 8 ccd-trv40 will no longer

This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. Try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.

Sony DCRA-C162 Camcorder. I need a replacement battery for the DCRA-C162. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Question edited for clarity, add full 'make model (what it is)'. Question moved from Cars and Trucks category. Searching for your manual keeps bringing up this manual https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/2698/26988801M.pdf Looking at that manual Page 16, it states the battery pack as 'NP-FP50', and that turns up batteries for $15. https://www.google.com/search?q=NP-FP50 ..

Sony Handycam CCD-TRV68 Flashing No Tape and Eject Symbol

If it were worth repairing, as a Sony agent, I would replace all of the capacitors and clean up the board then reset the mechanism and test. Probably too old being 2001 vintage.

SONY mini HandyCam model V569. HOW DO YOU TURN ON A SONY V569?

Question edited to add full model designation. Question moved from Sony Computers. This doesn't seem to be a very well known model. It is not even listed on their website. https://www.sony.ca/en/electronics/support/cameras-camcorders/manuals/results?query=V569# There are normally two batteries, a small one that just saves memory and runs the operating system, and a larger battery that actually powers the camera. Try contacting Sony direct There is a bit of help here, but not enough. https://www.google.com/search?q=SONY+V569 ..

Sony DCR-DVD200 camcorder not turning on after trying to fix it.

The best thing you can do now is to take it to a specialist and get them to do the repairs. Camcorders have a lot of electronics in them and can be easily damaged if your a not an experienced repairer. You might also have to consider that this camcorder might not be repairable.

Handycam CCD-TRV70 Hi8 camcorder. Why is it suddenly playing all tapes fuzzy, with no audio?

The record / playback heads probably need cleaning, using a compatible cleaning tape. Failing that, it is either damaged or broken.

Blue screen on TRV260 playback

TRV260 nail-polish head attack: eek. Acetone is a powerful solvent capable of dissolving plastic parts, plastic gears, housing and insulation. Besides that, it leaves a residue of microscopic crystals which have probably contaminated the highly-polished metal head drum. Not to mention gumming up the bushes and bearings. With your next camera, rather use a head-cleaner DV-tape.

Sony dcr-hc62 won't record

Memory stick could be fubar. I have a bad sd card that I can record to and will work. Then a few days later the data is corrupted, and I have to reinstall it / same pattern. Try another stick to verify that it is the stick and not the camera electronics.

How do I find part number for pinch roller for Sony DCR-TRV19 handycam camcorder?

I had a similar problem that happened to my old Betamax camcorder. The only way that the pinch roller can be replaced is the whole cassette mechanism had to be replaced which was way too expensive and not worth the fix. And that was coming from a Sony certified repair shop.
