Sony Handycam CCD-TRV87 Camcorder Questions & Answers
Sony Handycam CCD-TRV87 Hi-8...
I am having the same problem. When I hit Rewind or Fast Foward, i can see the image moving clearly.
When I hit play though, I just get a BLUE screen with the Play arrow displayed. So it's playing, I just got a blue screen. And last night, I got the blue screen but I could hear the audio.
Then I put a head cleaning tape in the camera, and I did get the picture back on for a little bit.
Skip to this morning, and we are back to the Blue screen again. Only this time, I am getting no audio. And I the head cleaning tape back in but it's not helping anymore.
CCD-TRV87 won't turn off
I have CCD-TRV57E and found camera would switch itself ON and could not turn off. Had switch replaced some years ago and is now fine. Also have a friend with same camera and had the same problem, also had switch replaced.
My tape deck on an old CCD-TR91 Camera will not go
When you got your camera, did you receive a VCR adapter that you can put the 8mm in and then pop it into your VCR?
It will be pretty spendy to have somebody do it for you if you want it done professionaly.
I hope thisw helps.
I need to delete some
Since your Handycam is tape based, you can delete your videos only by recording. Remember your old tapes and cassettes. It works just the same way.
Best wishes

I have a Sony CCD-TRV87E
Hi.
To copy the Hi8 tapes you need to connect the camcorder to either a computer or to a recorder.
The easiest way is using an audio/video cable connected to the jack plug on the Sony Hi8 camcorder. The alternative is using the firewire port and a firewire cable.
In both cases you do not need to install software or to do settings. The camcorder output will be sent analog to the yellow video cable or to the firewire cable. If you use a recorder all you have to do is selecting input channel and start recording.
The AV cable you need (most Hi8 do not have firewire) s
hould be like the one in this link. Double check before purchasing.

Sony Handycam CCD-TRV87E
Its analog model of Sony camera series and you can not download its video in PC directly. You can connect Digital Model camera with PC.
How to add the Sony
This camcorder as far as I remember has not got a fire wire out connection however on the left side as you look at the lens there are various video and audio output connectors such as YC commonly known as SVHS.
To hook the camcorder up to a computer you need a box known as a break out box.
Basic it's a box that take the analogue video and audio signals into it and converts them to a digital signal.
The out put connector from the box is fire wire which will connect to a computer with a fire wire port.
Most modern laptops have a fire wire input in fact it's been around for a good 10 years.
There are many break out boxes on the market ranging from £70 to several hundred £ss.

Wont close for tape
Hello,
Sounds like a possible tension spring on the latch has broke, or fallen off, the latch is on the side of the tape compartment, looks like a small hook and is locks around a pin if the spring is broke or the pin has gotten bent, that is your problem.
CCD TRV 87 Camera eats tapes. Any thoughts or
This can be caused by several problems including the transmission gear in the tape mechanism not engaging properly or a defective clutch in the take-up spool and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it’s not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.
I have a Sony Handycam Vision CCD-TRV65 and want
well this is what i do and it is pretty long and not a really good way so first connect one side of your av cable to the output of your tv and the input to your camcorder and with the help of another av cable put the input to a dvd recorder and the output to the input of your tv then insert a (dvd+r/dvd-r) dvd into your DVD Recorder then record the video that is displayed on your tv to the dvd inserted into the dvd recorder then finalize it when it finishes and put it into your computer
So Basically all i use (as the device) is the DVD Recorder which u can find in any electronic store or online or on ebay i use this to record tv any video and videos on my camcorder and movies that i insert onto my usb and play it on my Nbox or Ps3 and then i record/burn the movies onto a dvd-r/dvd+r
Ps. I Say dvd-R is better because you can format it and delete titles and videos from it but u cant do this on a DVD+R
