JVC Cybercam GR-D70 Mini DV Digital Camcorder - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Mini-DV TRAY OPEN..Camera shows E-04 Problem Code
FIrst, tap the side of the camera with a good thump, and it will remedy the problem immediately.
Then, to prevent it happening again, do the following:
1. Chuck out all those cheap crappy tapes you purchased to save a buck. Get JVC or Panasonic.
2. Chuck out all those cheap generic batteries you purchased to save a buck. Get JVC
3. DO NOT STORE OR TRANSPORT THE CAMERA WITH THE FILM IN, OR THE BATTERY ATTACHED!
4. ONLY AFFIX BATTERY AND FILM IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO USE. Keep both in their proper containers.
if that doesnt work
i'll tell you the secret. the moisture sensor is a little black square
on the side of the drive motor. if you look directly where the tape
goes in, the drive motor is in the far back left. it's partially hidden
behind a silver pin hanging down from the black plastic cover that goes
over the video head. take a long q-tip and dip it in glass
cleaner(windex etc) and gently wipe it off. you should see a small
amount of black guck on the q-tip.
then remove power for about one minute and allow to dry. it's better to use air to dry it out.

Failure of the CCD image
Te image sensor is replaceable. The cost for the part runs about $130. The labor to install it will vary from shop to shop but you are probably looking at around $200 to repair your camera.

Condensation operation paused how do
If the camera is working correctly it's to protect the camera and tape.
The camera has detected condensation inside it's body due to a large change in temperature. eg. when you take the camera form a heated room to an external environment that is very cold.
You simply wait until the camera acclimatizes.

My comcorder is recording only
You're probably having a ccd or tape head issue, and the ribbon connector from it to the main board is probably loose, and needs to be reset. This will require the unit being serviced and possibly disassembled, which isn't for everyone. If you take it into a camera repair shop, get an estimate first, since the cost of repair can often justify buying another camcorder.

During travelling in AC Bus and operting the
There is a DEW sensor within the camera as a protection as when there is condensation due to cool condition within the tape can get chewed into the cylinder head drum.
So all what you need to do next time is to keep it in a warm place, use a hair dryer slighly into the door after ejecting tape or you can put the set On overnight without any harm.
When you travel keep the camera covered with a blanket and do not expose the camera to direct AC vent.

At view window it say please wait condensation
Try warm air from a hair dryer over the mechanism with the cassette door open for a couple of minutes. do not over do it. The dew sensor is sending an active signal to the control cct to prevent tape damage in use.
