Try to put the camera on default settings without using battery, that is using power adapter, do this 2 to 3 times, it will solve your problem.
Cassette will not stay in
this is a serious mechanicle problem, you may have to take it to the service center, or else blind tries may spoil the equipment.
Removing dv cassettes manually
open the unit and look for a small motor that ejects the tape through a series of mechanical gears, slides and hinges. Now turn this motor by hand.
Can not transfer to computer
Hi,
I had the same problems 'till I picked up this:
Koutech PCI to 1394a Card Model KW-582V2
It apparently contains some Texas Instrument hardware (or drivers?) that will make the camcorder transfer with ease! It did the trick perfectly and is really low in price!
Sorry, not a real technical answer, but this is what worked!

Why won't my digital camera charge via USB anymore?
Take camera and its battery to a camera outlet, ask them to check the built-in rechargeable battery.
Most outlets will help you with this, as its likely that if the battery has failed, you'll buy a replacement from the same dealer.
My GR_SMX730U VHS camcorder is eating the tape.It uses a PRO TC-30 casset.
that means the head is sticky or the takeup rollers are icky
take it apart . clean all the parts the tape touches with something thats strong but little water .
as for the head very carefull clean it when you get to the actual holes where heads are only use a proper qtip wetted . look it up or youll break them.
on the rubber rollers scrub them . then load the tape an watch it run.
its easy to fix this but you need a nice clean place an some small phillips , take pics of parts/screws if needed
