Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:))

The LCD screen has just went blank

This could be the touch-pad screen gone, or the lamp in the camera that shows the pictures, get it up to Jessops camera shop for a health check.

Do a search (google) for Sony.com. It has your model listed to down load software and a pdf file for the manual.

While cleaning you have either damaged the drum or you have not managed to clean it properly. I would advise that you take it to a proper retail outlet that deals in cleaning the drum, the recording heads are small and easily damaged. I hope this help.

If you want to use the USB cable to connect the Camera to the Computer to transfer the video to the Computer then:

This Camcorder does not support USB streaming with the VISTA Operating System. Use an i.LINK cable to transfer the video to the Computer. The i.LINK port is also called IEEE 1394 or Firewire port. (An i.LINK is a black D shaped connector with 4 or 6 pins. The type of cable to be used will depend on the i.LINK port of your Computer. The Sony Camcorder will have the 4 pin i.LINK cable and if the computer has the 6 pin i.LINK port, then you may have to use the 4 pin to 6 pin i.LINK Cable).

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Computer.

NOTE: As the Camcorder does not support USB streaming with Vista, it is not required to use any Sony Device Driver to transfer the video to the Computer. You do not require any Drivers or Software from Sony to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer using the i.LINK/Firewire interface.

I suggest you go to Sonys website and go to the download section. They should be able to help you with the driver. If they don't have it which would surprise me you might need to contact them to get a disk. Hope this helps.
