Images not recording

I have a sony 14E and suddenly it stopped playing and recording. With vertical lines on the screen I knew to clean the heads. No effect on the recording/playing malfunction.

However I persevered and it seems to have worked in it is now recording and playing back. The steps I suggest, with PERSEVERANCE, are :
1. Clean the heads (I did it 3 times in all, with about 1 hour between each session);
2. Leave the camera open (tape section) for about 2 hours and put the camera (with or without tape) in a warm place. (I also had condensation messages).
3. Once it is warm put in a recorded tape and attempt to view it. At first I had "dirty" vertical lines for a few seconds but it cleared and played normally.
4. If Step 3 still does not work repeat 1 and 2. As I said PERSEVERE.
If Step 3 works then try to record. It should work hopefully. If not, repeat 1 and 2 (shortening the "Warm Up" time).
Good luck. I hope mine continues to work OK now. It is to do with dirty heads and coldness I think.

Sony handycam dcr-trv19 mini dv

Because of the fact that Microsoft thinks they're so smart and released Windows Vista as their newest piece of ****, this camera will not work with Vista. The drivers for Windows Vista are non-existent. I went to the site for Sony and could only find XP drivers and 98 and 2000. They do not make them for Vista. And of course Vista should have most common drivers preinstalled, yet they don't have this one. I haven't found a way around it yet. I tried to get the drivers for Windows XP and install them. No good! It cannot be used on "this current operating system." Good luck. Hope somebody else finds an answer.

DCR-TRV19 compatible with an apple computer?

Hi heather719,

Unfortunately, the DCR-TRV19 is only compatible with windows - see the list of compatible versions at this address:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DCRTRV19

The only compatibility it has with Macs (and it doesn't always work) is to view still images via USB cable. In order to do this, you must manually install the required drivers from the software CD on your Mac. See the user's manual for instructions on how to do this:

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRTRV19.pdf

The reason the video playback is not compatible with Macs is that you have to use an iLink cable, which is Sony's version of an IEEE 1394 ("Firewire") cable, and the iLink is only compatible with PCs (since that's what Sony makes).

If you want to get content from the tape in your camera onto a Mac, you must either:
1) Load it onto a PC, save it to a portable memory device, and transfer it, or...
2) Connect a MiniDV deck to your Mac, take the tape out of your camera, and put in the deck (like a VCR).

I'm sorry I can't give you better news - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind regards,
H2H

Trouble importing video from Sony Digital Handycam onto PC

try this link.

They cross-referenced it and found that the DCR-TRV19 camera used the same driver as the DCR-TRV280. I took the download off Sonys website and it worked perfectly.

I HAVE DCR-HC42E

You can try installing the XP drivers. See if that works. But you may have to downconvert back to XP in order to have that connectivity. Sometimes a new OS just plain breaks the connection.

If this doesn't work  The touch screen menu on the camera has a function near the bottom that turns USB Streaming on.Try this.

Another solution is to buy a firewire pci card (if it does not already have one) for your pc and a 4 pin cable to connect.

Or else you can just download XP drivers from the sony's website  and install it.

Sony handycam model number DCR-TRV255E

This sometimes happens whenever humidity attacks the unit. Get some of the absorber crystal bags that come with new handbags, etc. and place them in the Sony supplied bag with the unit when in storage.

Video transfer from handycam to cd

The drivers for this camera are already included in both the XP and Vista operating systems. Are you using one of these operating systems?

According to the Sony website this camera uses the Sony I.Link cable which is just a standard Firewire (also called DV or 1394 cable). It should just be a matter of plugging this cable into the camera and into a Firewire port on you computer and turning on the camera.

You cannot transfer video with the included USB cable and Sony does not include the Firewire cable.

Here's a link that will give you some troubleshooting tips if you're still having problems:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=DCRTRV19&region_id=1

and here's the link that says the drivers are already in the OS:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DCRTRV19

Lastly, I really appreciate it when you let everybody know if this helps. This way others might be able to solve their problem from your post.
