Cannot find a head cleaner for Sony Digital 8 (DCR-TRV460)
Yes you can clean the heads. It's a delicate procedure, but, requires no disassembly. But, I'm curious about your mention of "blurry spots." Typically, on a digital camera, the video when the heads are dirty, will either just appear as a white screen, or, will come out blocky and glitchy (like poor satellite reception). "Blurry" would result from a dirty lense or filter. However, to clean your heads, I would run to Radio Shack and buy cleaning fluid refils. Take a Qtip and dampen it with the cleaning fluid. Open the camera, remove the tape and look for the video drum. Lightly rub the Qtip along the drum horizontal to the spin direction (not across the grain). Turn the drum and clean until you have swept the entire circumference.

Sony camcorder not recording c:31:23 flashing
This is the most common problem in Sony camcorders of various models. It is most likely a problem with a rubber bushing on the inside. It is an easy fix but it is very hard to explain with out pictures. Here is a link to a GREAT tutorial however, it is written in Japanese. All you need to do is follow the excellent pictures and this should take care of the problem. The plastic tube on the inside of the rubber bushing is the most likely cause so just follow the pictures. He uses a drinking straw to fix this. Good luck. This has fixed my camera perfectly!!!!!!!!!

How do you reset this
I "think" there is a switch of some kind on the monitor side up near the lens that goes from IR to standard. The Canon is like that. Look for it. It is a slide switch.

As with most tape recorders, there is no separate "erase" function. You just tape over it. If there is a write protect tab you will have to make sure that it is write enabled.
I constantly get this message-"re-insert
No. The timing cam is misaligned. The carriage is suppose to accept the tape, and when you close the door, it pulls the tape from the carriage towards the head and drive the take-up reel to the supply reel as the head reads or plays back the tape. If the timing cam is misaligned, it will not accept the tape and thus you get the error message.

This can be caused by several problems including the transmission gear in the tape mechanism not engaging properly or a defective clutch in the take-up spool and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

How do I transfer recordings from tape to dvd?
If this is a Dig8 camcorder, it should have a DV jack. From this, you can use an iLink cable (firewire cable) to plug it directly into your computer. If you have a DVD burner on your computer, this should work for you.
Instructions:
- Connect an i.LINK (firewire) cable (also known as IEEE 1394) to the i.LINK port on the digital camcorder.
- Connect the other end of the i.LINK cable to the computer.
NOTE: The computer i.LINK ports and capture cards may have either 4-pin or 6-pin connections. Sony digital camcorders use i.LINK ports with 4 pins. If your computer only has a 6-pin i.LINK port, then it will be necessary to use a 4-pin to 6-pin i.LINK cable.
- Turn on the digital camcorder by moving the POWER switch to the VTR position.
- Cue the camcorder tape to the beginning of the video footage.
- Turn on the computer. Your computer should recognize your camcorder and automatically install the needed driver.
- Start the video capture software on the computer.
- Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
- Begin importing the video with the capture software.
It should now be possible to copy the video using the video capture software if the computer hardware and software are configured correctly.
Hope this helps you.

Problem with screen on camera.
What you are seeing is the result of "digital dropout". This is usually caused by dirty heads. You can try to use a cleaning tape, but those often do not work. A professional cleaning will clear this up. A word of caution though: it is easy to mess up the alignment of these units if you are not trained on this type of repair. Please do not attempt any repair other than the use of a cleaning tape. The potential for additional damage is too great for any DIY attempts.
If the cleaning tape does not resolve the problem, please update this with your location so I can try to recommend a repair facility close by.
Thanks,
Dan
