in either case the head condition is bad.. pls inspect the tips on the head whether it is not damaged in the cleaning.inspect the drum hours also..

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the cassette compartment will not open or the tape is stuck and will not eject.

IMPORTANT: If your camcorder model has a RESET button, first try pressing this button. If there is no RESET button, or pressing the button does not resolve the issue, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.

1. Turn off the camcorder.
2. Remove the battery from the camera.
3. Remove the AC power supply from the camera.
4. Slide the power switch on the camera to the VTR , VCR or CAMERA mode for 15 seconds.
5. Slide the power switch back to the OFF position.
6. Connect the AC power supply to the camera.
7. Attempt to open the cassette compartment.

It could need a head adjustment. Any camera store can do that for you.

Plug off it from mains. Take out the battery and take out also the battery cell inside the screen place (when opened) . Ligth on your camera for ten seconds. Switch it off and replace the elements. It's done!

the selection weel contacts are dirty. Try to clean it with a contact spray.

No if it doesn't work, it could be the motor or grain of sand blocking it.

Now...before inserting the memory card,make sure it is not locked with password;as this can prevent it from working. Then firstly,scan the memory card using AVG software. After that insert the memory card and start making use of it....

battery is inside the handle... open the three top screws of the handle cover and remove the cover. you can view the batteries.. replace both of them with same type.

I have the same problem with my DCR-VX2100 and according to another website that I found, the camera has a defective CCD, a known problem that was covered under a recall program from Sony that may or may not have expired.

If it is out of warranty, Sony charges a flat rate to fix and return ship the camera to you. Go to: https://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do and enter your camera's model number (DCRVX2100), your purchase date and zip code. My quote was $516, which is reasonable, but I'm going to check several local shops as well to see if they can fix this known problem for less. Good luck.
