Samsung SyncMaster 191T 19" Flat Panel LCD Monitor Questions & Answers
Shadows and Ghosts on the Screen
Plugged up display via the VGA cable to an HP dv6000 laptop; the Acer powered up and displayed fine ... however, noticed a faint waving motion in the picture, as if the screen was literally gel and began to wave, from top to bottom as it appeared. Best I can describe it ... any suggestions as to why? I only connected it to this HP to try it out, I ordered it from newegg and wanted to make sure pixels werent dead on arival. I will be getting an Aurora 7500 (Alienware): AMD X2 6000, Windows Vista Premium, 2GB RAM, GeForce 512 8800GT, SLI ready motherboard ... I heard good things of Acer and hoped this display would look great with my soon-to-come setup and im sure it will. However, just nervous it will do this on my Aurora. Any help or suggestions would be beyond appreciated!!

The monitor is a Samsung
If you are in Windows XP, you can use the following key combination:
CRTL + ALT + up arrow
I am not sure if this combination works in Windows 7.
Good luck.

I've got a Samsung SyncMaster 191t Plus. When
The power supply filter caps will be the first place, hopefully it will not be poor lamp solder connections.
You should download the service manual and read below:
Service manual:

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Samsung SynchMaster 191N
Monitor stay on
If the OSD has display and after a min goes dark that monitor has 2 possible problem. 1. bad electrolytic capacitor from secondary power supply to inverter area or fault semiconductors around inverter area. 2. Bad CCFL or fluorescent lamp of lcd panel it may be reddish color.

No connection check signal cable
Have you tried a different VGA/ DVI cable? Also, plug the monitor into a different computer and see if the issue goes away? This could indicate a faulty video card.

I have a Samsung 191T
If power on the monitor not show led then you need to open back cover of lcd there is 1 fuse inside the LCD.Make sure it is not burnt.
If fuse is fine then you need to repair your LCD at authorised service center because even small mistake can damage all monitor. There should be need to replace chipset inside LCD.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I think I might have fried my Samsung SyncMaster
Unlikely unless you discharged a large static shock into the connector as you were doing this. I have never seen a monitor or computer video port damaged by connecting the cable while power is on.
Try unplugging the power cable to the monitor for 10min or more and then reconnect and see if it starts to work.
