You might need to replace the whole tape deck or the recording heads as they do intend to wear out after a while.

Maybe the simple way to do it remove your memory card and buy an usb adapter and you can open it in the computer easily.

THERE WAS ALSO A POSTING FROM A GUY WHO HAD FOLLOWED THIS ADVICE AND IT FIXED HIS CAMERA.

SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW SUIT AND I DROPPED THE CAMERA ON TO A CARPETTED FLOORT FROM HALF A METRE HIGH AND WHEN I TRIED IT WITH THE TAPE IT WORKED, NO JOKE, THIS IS AN HONEST AND TRUTHFUL REPORT.

A Firewire cable is a cable for IEEE 1394.

Search for "WinDV" on Google and download it. It is a very small and free program but it does the job very well. You must have a DV connection on your PC/Laptop and you will need a firewire cable to connect to the camera.

Have you checked the "button" battery (CR1616) under the big battery? Probably needs replacing.

Believe it or not, but I found a possible solution for that in another forum. The suggestion was, to let the camera drop from about 0,5 m height onto the floor. Make sure, that there is a carpet underneath, which prevents the camera from severe damage.

This is no joke - I have let it drop once and the cassette was loaded and everything worked fine. There might have been a sensor problem or a little hickup in the mechanic.

Try it on your own risk - but what do you have to loose ? I wanted to sell the camera as broken on ebay, but now, I have a running camera again.

well there are certain cassettes made for that camcorder. i suggest you search for what the are called and then you can buy them

Open iMovie and capture the required footage.
Send the iMovie project to iDVD and burn a disc.

This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.
