You'll need a Mini DV player - I believe Canon or Sony has one. Then you can connect the player to a computer instead of using the camera.

Sounds as if your camera has a mechanical problem with the tape loading mechanism. It is possible that it just needs a clean/lube, but otherwise it will need to be repaired or replaced.

I assume you've cleaned the heads, or had them cleaned? There's also a chance that one of the heads might be bad. Also, there is a ribbon connector that could be loose inside the camcorder. What I would do, in this case, is take it by a camera repair shop, and show them what's going on. They will know, or have a good idea, about what's exactly wrong and how much it will cost to repair- then at least you'll know what's going on, if you elect to try to fix it yourself.
It could just need a head cleaning, but make sure you do it right, since you can easily break a head off.
Here's a link for a tape type cleaner:

Best Buy should have them, also.
Good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps!
