This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. Try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

How long have let the camcorder sit still before using again? It seems that you were using it then the battery was out of charge, then you tried to charge it, but nothing happend. Is that your problem?

I have the same problem. The only solution I've found is to manually wind the tape forward about 15 seconds and it works fine again. The problem only occurs if I let the tape wind all the way to the beginning.

This all sounds like you may have digital effects turned on, check your camera meno settings and turn everything off and start again.
As for your sounds not being heard check your volume setting as it can go so low you wont hear.

Your tape can last only for 90 min max(LP). You set your DVD to 2 hrs. or LP mode. DVD can be set to 4 hrs recording. Hope it helps

that is normal its the copy protection that taged
on the dis toc.....that is why the picture go black and disturbing color/ disconnect your firewire try this..

Ether there is something broken inside or there is a foreign object inside. Those are the only two issues I can think off. My advice your going to hate me but, Camera shop would be able to tell right away what is going wrong inside the ejection mechanism ether there is something broke as I said or there is something inside causing it not to close. Also look on the Dv media and see if there is not anything getting in the way.

most likely neede head cleaning

After tape is inserted tap on elevator mechanism with your knuckle. You will hear elevator operate. Do it more than once if neccessary. It worked for me!

Your battery is bad. You can buy batteries for relative cheap. Do a internet search for your particular battery and it should bring back your battery.

CANON relied on Sony to install their CCD (The image sensor) on most of their mini camera recorders. The mount for this CCD Component is defective. Canon recognizes this and currently, (2009) offers a 100% free replacement of this part.

The effect of the malfuctioning CCD is as you describe, everything works except there is no image captured.

I took mine in and they repaired it, no questions asked, except that I may want a few other things fixed up while they were there. I declined the additional work and it didn't cost me a cent.

Find Canons website and they have a deeler locator there where you can find an authorized repair center.

Canon MiniDV camcorder ejects tape immediately if either drum (video head) does not rotate or Dew sensor activated due to humidity.
Please remove battery/ power source for few minutes, reattach battery/ power source and check again.
If problem still exist then take it to local camera tech for fix because camcorder will be apart for further diagnose.
