Dryer will spin but not dry , heat element is fine

Try replacing the high limit switches if the element is fine. The limit switches will not allow power to the heat strips if they are blown. They are the little silver buttons on the heat strip. There are usually two wires connected to them one coming from the controls and one from the heat strip itself

Dryer stopped working, sounds like timer still running

I suspect it is the thermal fuse. Seen here. You will need to determine what caused it to blow. on these machines the blower wheel is notorious for getting loose and causing the element to over heat. This makes the heating element shut down faster and takes a long time to dry the clothes. 7fc125e.jpg If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/dan_73bbd84fe1d95b61

My magic chef dryer will occasionally not start.

Yes you have a bad motor. Its shutting off on its overload and wont start back up again until it cools back down.

My magic chef dryer just won't start, was working

Check your switch on the door first. Its like a light switch. If you have a volt ohm meter switch it to the ohm setting and test both leads coming from the switch. Have the power cord unplugged first to prevent shoc. No power is needed to test Ohm ratings

Dryer will not turn on after button is pushed.

HI, check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer or control board
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

**The most common issue here will be a defective Thermal fuse

Magic Chef dryer worked fine yesterday. We lost

I am not a repair professional. I am a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. So the machine ID doesn't mean much to me. I came to fixya looking for a schematic for an really old AM/FM radio and just happened to see that more than 4,700 people were asking for help with a washer repair. I recently had a washer repair of my own and at that time I found an excellent video on youtube which showed me how to take my machine apart. This video (direct drive washer repair) made it possible for me to do my own repair. You probably don't have any idea of the wonderful help you can get from youtube videos. Your first stop should be at youtube. Just search for the help you need. You could search for "clothes dryer repair" or "clothes washer repair" or "dishwasher repair". If you are not able to view and/or download the videos, or after you've seen all you want to see, I suggest you go directly to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good step by step trouble shooting and repair information on washers, dryers. and dishwashers as well as other appliances. Another excellent site is www.acmehowto.com If you have a direct drive top load washer and need help taking it apart these youtube videos are wonderful help. I was so impressed with them that when I saw all these people needing help, I wanted to tell them about the videos. If you look at the back of your top load washer and the panel is solid (no small inspection plate to remove, which would indicate you have a v-belt drive) chances are you have a direct drive and this video (direct drive washer repair) is just what you need. After you've seen all the appropiate videos, or if you have a belt drive washer, you will probably still need help in determining what the trouble is and how to fix it. I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good trouble shooting and repair nformation on most washers and dryers, dishwashers and many other household appliances. I think you'll find what you need there. Another excellent site for DIY help is www.acmehowto.com Don't worry about the timer on a washer, they hardly ever go bad. I realize I haven't solved your problem for you, but I hope I have sent you where you can get help to solve the problem. Good luck with it.

Only warm air, must cycle many times

You problem sounds like you have a faulty heating element or maybe the thermostats are faulty.
If you plan to do the repairs yourself, then you will need to remove the back of the dryer and locate the air tube from the blower to the drum, this is where the heating coil and the thermostats are normally located.
You can test the coil and thermostats with a continuity meter and check function.
Good luck
I hope this helps

It does nothing when i push the start button

if you have no power at all then ther is a thermal fuse that has gone bad.you need to lift the lid look in the rear for the heating element just to the right of the heating element.about three inches down the side of the can there should be two white wires going to the thermal fuse that is bad.
in order to check this with out a multimeter you can connect the wire together for a moment and start you dryer and it should get hot and start.the part number is LA-1053 that you can get from your local parts store.
let me know how this goes for you there are a couple of other problems but this is the first thing i would check the other two items are a bad door switch and a bad start button/timer

Lint screen holder is full of lint

Yes, clean it out immediately. The lint screen should pull right out with no screws holding it. It should be cleaned every other load! If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/craig_3fa289bf857b1a3c

My Magic Chef Dryer stopped working mid cycle last

Check the circuit breakers for the dryer first. Remember when you reset the breaker, to turn it all the way to the OFF position firmly and then back on.

Ok, you have narrowed it down nicely and, this leads my to believe that you will need to replace the start button switch. this start button switch circuit board is damaged.

When I push the start button it will not turn on got power to dryer

The start button goes directly to the motor to energize the start winding until the centrifugal switch in the motor energizes the run winding.

If the motor is not trying to start, I would next test the start switch & related connections.
