Hi there,
Well problem seems in the Thermocouple, it is the stick looking thing that is in the pilot lights flame. You can replace it for about $5 to $6 and they are available at places like Home Depot or Lowe's.
post comments for more help or information......
Good Luck!!
Thanks
OVEN WILL NOT (GAS) LITE
With the assumption you have a gas range with electric ignition and is fully powered (plugged in); the possible problem may be the "Electric ignitor/Glow bar".
When turning on the oven, do you see a redish (good) or yellowish (not good; replace) glow emitting from the very bottom or the oven/broil area?
There are typically 2 types of electric glow bar ignitors; Round and Square. Ignitors are actually fairly easy to replace, removing 2 mounting screws and cutting/splicing 2 seperate wires together. Is your ignitor "round" (circular - like size of finger ) or "square" (rectangular - like snickers candy bar)
If your ignitor is not coming on at all; this can be a couple things;
Defective Ignitor - Gone completely Bad - Out (Assuming your have full power 110v to ignitor)
Defective Gas Valve - Assist in passing 110V to Ignitor
Defective Control Board / Thermostat: Assist in passing 110V to Ignitor
FYI - As a safety measure, the ignitor needs to "come on and appear solid red" to properly pass power to gas valve; thus opening and allowing gas to pass through the burners and combust.
Magic chef oven
look at the burners in your oven, they usually go bad where they plug in.it will look like a peice is missing.if this is not the case one of the wires is loose on you breaker and you're running on 110
How do I turn off the pilot light in my Magic Chef 31000paw oven? I think when it stays on it is wasting gas.
I don't know. While half a century ago it was common that pilot lights would be permanently lit to provide instant lighting of oven and hobs, because they did consume a significant amount of gas they fell out of favour and spark ignition became reliable.
Amid a number of related and unrelated accidents the gas oven began to be seen as potentially dangerous and so they were fitted with a couple of safety devices so for a considerable time the pilot light has to be relit every time the oven is used and the pilot light will be switched off when the oven burners are turned off.
Thinking back a long time, the pilots of our old cooker could be turned off using a screwdriver to turn a central service valve hidden under the hob spill tray.
Electric spark will not work, burners will not light
The spark electrode sends a spark to ignite the gas in the burner assembly. If the spark electrode is defective or worn out, it might not produce a spark, or the spark might be too weak to ignite the gas. As a result, the spark electrode will make a clicking sound when the burner is turned on, but the burner won't light. If the spark electrode is defective, replace it.
