SD as hard drive--windows XP download

An SD card isn't usually used as Hard Drives as they don't contain enough space. Although they are getting bigger and bigger capacities all the time!

I think what your after is booting your computer off the SD card which will have Windows on it? Some computers can boot straight from the SD card, my old laptop used too!

What needs to happen is that you need to go into your BIOS settings (which are your motherboard settings) and in ther you can set boot sequence, so by default most are set to Hard Drive first. The computer looks there first for the operating System. So you need to tell your Motherboard to boot from your SD card 1st. Now your motherboard needs to be able to support this feature, my guess is that it probably wont.

Go into the BIOS and find the boot sequence and scroll through the available options, if SD is in there, set it. If not your motherboard wont support booting from SD.

Cannot copy file error

It sounds like your memory card is formatted with a FAT16 filesystem. FAT16 has a limitation where you can only put 255 files in the root directory, no matter how much available space you actually have. Try placing your files in a folder on the card rather than into the root directory.

My computer is no longer reading SD cards. I have Windows Vista. Can this be easily fixed? Thanks

If it doesn't show up at all under "Computer" go into "Disk Management" Right click Computer > Manage > DIsk Management. If it is missing in here then the card is bad. It it shows up here, initialize it if it asks to, otherwise right click the card and add new Simple Volume. If you see it under "Computer" and when you try to traverse it and it asks to format disk. Format it. This happens when the MFT record on the SD card is corrupt and formatting it will fix it.

I just bough a 4gb memory card for my nokia 5200

If you haven't already, go to Nokia's website and download the phone software updates, here's the link
http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update?5200=#

Do NOT click on the above, but copy and paste the entire link (including the =# at the end) into your browser. This will take you to the page for your phone and tell you how to download the Nokia Software Updater. The newer firmware should make your phone able to recognize and format the newer, larger cards.

Hey bro, im sorry to inform you that there is no way to recover your memory card without losing your data. But if you are fine with losing your data, then try this out.
Put your microSD in a nokia E-Series phone. I'll suggest the E-65. Now, go to the memory card in the TOOLS folder and select options, and choose FORMAT MEMORY CARD. It will ask you for your confirmation, press yes if you want to, and it will format your card and remove the password. I hope this works for you. Cheers ! I've tried it out. It does not ask you to put in the old password before formatting. It worked for me !

Formattin sandisk

hi

  1. 1 Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  2. 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  3. 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  4. 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  5. 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  6. 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

I have a 2 gb sandisk memory card which stays

This is all you can do! If you have a laptop with a port to use ur memory card, try inserting in that and see what happens. Still there is no response means you should go to a service shop. Request them to take a backup if u have any sensitive data in it before formatting it. Btw the problem would not have arised because of overnight charging. The data might have got corrupted
