TURNTABLE AND LIGHT NOT WORKING

It will cook entirely different ... you will want to turn the food occasionally to assure complete cooking.

You probably have a burned out lamp ... look inside for an access panel. If none, you will have to remove the cover. There are probably 8 to 10 screws and they may be Torx - Torx is a star shape, available at auto parts store of Sears (K-mart).

Once inside - DO NOT TOUCH THE SILVER CAN - LETHAL.

Find the lamp, check it out. If burned, get a replacement at your hardware or appliance store or maybe at a Big Box store.

I hope this helps you.

Magic chef 990W microwave clock keeps resetting.

Make sure that the program controller is receiving power - step down supply. Sometimes insect secretion can short the board and display panel and so the processor can work in such an erratic manner. If so clean, solder and reset the board. Now identify the parts by clicking this link: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/microwave/a/5/141/identifying-microwave-parts.html

Since the clock is resetting it is a fault on the main board and the processor as it is tripping. So check power, check for faults mentioned above on the board. Also if there is fault of the magnettron leak or a waveguide leak then clean and check insulation.Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off. Check the wave guide covers, if food had depositedthen it must be checked or replaced.

See link: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/microwave/a/5/1146/how-to-replace-a-microwave-guide-cover.html

Now keeping clear of the microwave, switch on, use a cup of water inside to test. If you notice any sparks shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. replace with same type.If there is heating without any issues, you can use the microwave safely

Thank You for using FIXYA.

Microwave door does not close; the latch does not

Hi,

The microwave oven door latch is a safety part preventing energy leakage. For safety reasons, i will advice you get a technician to help because you will need to replace the door lock and to replace the door lock you will have to take apart the door, and that is no easy task. Best is to get a technician to help replace the door lock.

How do you change a magnatron

It is illegal for a homeowner to perform this task -- must be done by a licensed repair facility. There is too much potential for creating a significant radiation hazard to which you would not want to expose you, your family, your pets and/or your guests.

I know this is not the answer you wanted, but it's the only "right" solution.
