Need directions on how to set the year on phone
Press the Set/Save Button, Date/Time setting should appear after the first press, Press Set button again to enter the date/time. The year I believe should be first and blinking. Use the Up/Down key to change the year, then press "Set" then change or set the month, then the day.

Shift 3 Talking Caller ID LCD Touch-Panel Phone
I have just purchased the Shift3 Talking Caller ID Phone. For some reason, the talking caller ID function does not work, i.e., no announcement is made identifying the number of the person calling. The "Set 8 Speech" is set "on". Any suggestions to getting this to work?

How do you display caller
Caller ID (caller identification, CID), also called calling line identification (CLID) or calling number identification (CNID), is a telephone service, available in analog and digital phone systems and most Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications, that transmits a caller's number to the called party's telephone equipment during the ringing signal, or when the call is being set up but before the call is answered. Where available, caller ID can also provide a name associated with the calling telephone number. The information made available to the called party may be displayed on a telephone's display or on a separately attached device.

I want to year laugh
1 - pick up the phone
2 - ask the assistance of some friends or co workers (2 at least)
3 - smash the phone on the shorter one's head (easier to reach)
4 - collect laughs!

I have used my phone only once and since that time
Check that the hookswitch is operating properly. With the handset out of the cradle, push the hookswitch down, it should give some resistance then pop back up after you release it. Possibly it is not popping back up fully, therefore it is seizing the line always. Most switchhooks have a spring connected to them inside the phone to allow them to operate properly, if the spring is damaged it could cause the problem you've described.
