I have an intermittent chirping

there are only two kinds of moving parts in a computer that may cause a chirping noise:
- the hard disk: you better make a backup of critical data on your hard drive
- the fan: less critical since the data on your disk is not affected in case of a break-down, but annoying nonetheless. attention: a broken fan may cause the CPU to overheat. in general the pc turns itself off in case of overheating, but if it doesn't, the CPU may be damaged severely.

Microphone not working on HP PVILION DV 40000

  1. Right-click the Sound icon c01453402.gif in the system taskbar, beside the clock. Select Recording Devices from the drop-down menu.
  2. When the Sound window opens to the Recording tab, select Microphone . The Microphone entry should say that it is working, and there should be a meter beside the entry.
  3. Tap the plastic above the display gently. The meter should respond to the sound stimulus by rising and falling.
  4. If the microphone is not working, or if the meter is not present, or does not seem to respond to sound input, try the following:
    1. Click Properties and in the Microphone Properties window, make sure the device is enabled in the Device usage drop-down menu on the General tab.
    2. Click the Levels tab and set the microphone volume to 100.
    3. Click the Advanced tab and make sure all options are selected.
    4. Click Apply and then OK . Close the windows.

I have a laptop HP

You get this message when your hard drive is gone - it's not being detected and the computer is looking for some other source to boot from. You can probably easily replace it yourself if you have the original discs handy: it's located at the bottom, right below the monitor port and the two USB ports and takes half a minute to remove. This laptop uses good old ATA/IDE hard drives of the 2.5" variety, and new ones are pretty cheap (below $.50 per gigabyte) at your local stores or on Amazon / eBay.

Boot error IRQL_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

Reformatting is a little drastic.

This is a somewhat common driver error - when your machine sends out the signal to devices to shut down, one of them is throwing errors (bad ones) in the shut-down process. You need to find the hardware (or less likely, software) device that is not shutting down properly.

It is very often video drivers; try changing your video drivers to the Microsoft defaults and then shutting down, rebooting, and shutting down again. If the IRQ error does not turn up, you have a video driver error, and need to visit the HP web site and get the latest video drivers for that laptop model.

If it is not the video driver, you need to look into what new drivers or devices have been installed that might be non-standard. Unplug the laptop from everything that plugs in - USB devices, printers, SD and USB memory devices, hubs, everything. If this fixes the problem work backwards until you have re-installed the problem device and try to uninstall and install it again with the latest drivers.

It might also be the wireless network facility not shutting down properly. Try shutting this off in the hardware (with the wireless button on the keybaord) and DISABLING it in network settings and try shutting down.

Once you find the hardware device that is not shutting down properly, UNINSTALLING it in the DEVICE MANAGER and then rebooting and reinstalling it from scratch with the latest drivers usually works.

Good luck...

My laptop is not booting

Could be one of several possible reasons. (the most likely is not promising)
Firstly, remove the battey and try it on mains power only, if this works, the battery is so badly faulted, it is causing problems in the laptop booting.

Secondly, remove each RAM module in turn and see if it boots with one ram stick, if it does, you have a defective module

Thirdly, and with HP laptops, most likely, the blink sequence you describe is related to the graphics chip. If the laptop was getting hot before this happened, its a fair bet that the chip on this has unsolderd itself (will need reballing). Google and you'll find the V and DV series which were fitted with the Nvidia chipset, were prone to this and the result of a lot of returns to HP. If it is still under any warrantly, i'd take it back, as this problem is not fixable easily

How i can recover my

For computers manufactured and sold in 2006 or later, based on the Microsoft licensing agreement, you can create a personal recovery disc to restore the computer to its original operating system. If you cannot create a set of recovery discs, you might be able to order a set of replacement discs from HP. HP maintains an inventory of replacement recovery discs for several years after the product has been released. However, because of licensing restrictions, HP is only able to provide these recovery discs for a limited time. If the computer is several years past its warranty period, HP might not be able to supply replacement discs for your computer. If this is the case, you can install a new operating system that meets the minimum system requirements of your computer, or, alternatively, upgrade your computer hardware.

How do i reset my

Probably a F10 or F11 from boot, possibly another F key, try to read the screen if you miss something reboot it and try again. Otherwise sometimes manufacturers store a Windows System Image and need to be reset via Windows Repair, probably reached by Advanced Options for Recovery.

I want to connect to my samsung tv to watch

Will / can this laptop access your home network and the web, ether wireless or wired? If you can deal with it being wired to your router all you need is a network cable and plug it in to the router. If you have a wireless home network or router, and you are wanting to hook up wirieless. you will need a wireless adapter for your laptop. The better ones are D-link, Belkin, Linksys, Cisco. I would recommend to stay away from Netgear they are not easy to work with for a first time user. These wireless adapters will plug into a USB port and once the soft ware is installed away you go, easy as that. Access your netflix account and you are watching movies. Another thing you may consider would be if you have a TV and you want to watch netflix on it,, is a Roku player. Check them out >>> here

There should be 5 grey buttons at the top of your keyboard and just below your monitor. On the right there should be two with a small speaker icon, one with an X or an \ through it. Press the one with the speaker icon that has the ))) symbols coming from it to turn it back on.

If this doesn't work you should have a speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your desktop screen which may have a red X on it. Right click this and select volume control options and make sure that the "Mute" boxes are not checked off and the volume levels are turned up as you desire.
