you need to mimic what the latch did most latches are like arrows in this case get two thin items ( blunt butter knifes) and move the latches both left or right if its a middle type latch then try pushing in were the broken latch was .get what i mean if the old latch pushed in then its a middle latch if it slide then is double arrow latch ounce the laptop is open if you dont want to spend $$ fixing the lach just cut of the locking arrows to stop it locking again

This could be due to a couple of things. If your computer is actually starting up and you get no graphics (actually nothing at all on your monitor) then you could have a bad monitor or a bad video card. If the computer is working at all, the monitor should display something, if just an error message.My suggestion-try an external monitor (be sure to press the Fn and special function key combo to send the signal to the external monitor).If that doesn't work (either monitor), then the graphics card could have problems. If the external monitor works, then you could have a loose connection to the screen or the screen could be bad or perhaps the inverter that runs the screen could be bad. In this case, you'll have to get it fixed.

GPU/ Video Failure... You most likely have an issue with the Integrated Graphics Chipset and it's BGA connection to the Motherboard...You will need to Repair the GPU or replace the motherboard to correct the issue (assuming by the vague description that this is common for that model series).

Sometimes it works and is always the first step to take.Remove the battery and the ac adapter plug from the laptop.Press and hold the power button for fifteen seconds.Install either the battery and A/C adapter .Now just press the power button to attempt a boot into the OS. You have a virus,worm,trojan,etc on your computer.
Go to the following website and download,install and run the FREE Microsoft Safety Scanner.
It will remove the virus,trojan,worm,etc from your computer.

Unplug the power, remove the battery. Wait 2-3 minutes. Plug the power in without the batter. Turn on the system.

I found out how to fix the no sound problem on The HP Pavilion DV1000 Look under Dv1310 thats the model number the driver your looking for is SP30262.exe

That is because there are no Win7 drivers for that notebook at least not from HP.

Re-install the driver of the pc camera to resolve the problem. If the problem still exist unplug the camera cable if not built in then plug again to another usb port...If the camera is built it...you need to buy new pc camera because the built in camera might be defective

Hook your laptop to an external monitor and see if the screen comes on...if it does then your lcd screen is faulty and needs replacment.
If it does not come on then re-download your video driver/s.
If that does not work.
Maybe your lcd inverter or backlight bulb is faulty and needs replacement.
