Randomly shuts off and takes many times to try to

Take out the battery and only have the ac adapter hooked up. If you can get it to turn on the first try then that means the battery is shorting out the motherboard.

If you do this and your still having power problems then that means the motherboard is starting to go bad on you and the motherboard would have to be replaced.

Error message on dv 1000 pxe-mof and pxe-e61

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty. First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Hp notebook not working?

Scan for Viruses Sudden, unexplained computer issues are commonly caused by a virus infestation. These sneaky programs secretly install themselves on your system and alter the way the machine functions and responds to commands. Eliminate any hidden malicious programs by running a deep scan to find and destroy unwanted programs. You may need to perform a restore or recovery action on your system afterward to replace corrupted files with the correct versions. Troubleshooting To determine whether your non-functioning F5 key is due to a software issue or faulty hardware, connect a separate keyboard to your Pavilion. If the F5 key works on the external keyboard, the problem with your Pavilion's F5 key could be physical, such as a dirty key or spilled liquid. If the F5 key does not work on the external keyboard either, the problem likely lies in the software. Make sure that your operating system files are up-to-date to encourage proper communication between the keyboard and motherboard. Thorough Cleaning A keyboard key can become non-functional if it cannot make contact with the proper sensor beneath it, such as from accumulated debris or a spilled liquid. Dust, hair and lint can collect beneath and between your Pavilion's keys, which can interfere with proper contact when the layer becomes too thick. Sticky residue left behind by sugary liquids, such as soda or juice, can cause the key to stick, preventing the computer from registering the press. Thoroughly clean the area beneath the F5 key by gently prying the key off and using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt or residue. Safe Mode When you start your Pavilion, numerous other programs automatically start with it. Any of these programs could cause the F5 key to become non-responsive. Starting the Pavilion in Safe Mode will load only the essential operating system files and drivers, and if the F5 key works while in this mode, your problem most likely lies with an installed program or hardware device. To enter Safe Mode, restart your laptop and press the F8 key immediately. You'll enter the "Advanced Boot Options" menu, where you can use your arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press "Enter." If your F5 key still does not work, you may have a problem with your operating system files.

Hp pavillion zd8000shuts down during boot up not hot

Try the Memory mods, the CMOS battery. You have cleaned the fan and vents, right? May be a component failure, hard to say on a older machine. Take a look at HP support: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SupportTaskIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=434660&taskId=110

Shattered Screen

Check for the used LCD screens on ebay. There's one there today for $50 plus shipping. Replacement requires a tear down of the top part of the unit. If you are adventuresome, but have never done this, it might take you around 2 hours, or so.
