this is a usb printer, so you need a usb cable for it. canon does not include the cables for this printer. you can pick up cables for this at your local radio shack or computer dealer.

7200 rpm will make some difference in speed but this is an IDE drive so i woudl not really bother wasting the money.

pretty much any 7.2K IDE 2.5" hard drive will work but i recommend Seagate followed by Western Digital

Try another battery . If it's the same problem , then there must be a problem with the charging jack or the charger or power cord .

You don't need to open it up!

Turn the computer off.
Remove the battery.
Buy a can of compressed air, and give your computer a "blow-job" through every vent that you can find.

Follow the instructions on the can -- keep the can "vertical" while using it.

Try another known good working battery and if it doesn't charge and hold the charge properly,

If that doesn't work, try another know good working ac adapter to see if it is actually charging the battery properly.

If that doesn't fix it then you know for sure at that point the motherboard is bad.

I would hook your laptop up to an external monitor and set it for Dual Monitor mode. If you do not see any lines on the second monitor, the problem is not with your video card, and more than likely a problem with the screen. Since this is a hardware issue, the best option is to take it in for a diagnostics from a local repair shop, if the system is out of warranty.

One last thing to try just to be sure it is not a software issue...down load the video card driver from HP.com and reinstall it. This is free to try so it is worth a shot, however I do think the issue is hardware related.

Get one of those JerkStopper plug-in. Really keeps cord from moving. on HP ZD8000

hi if you have access to the operating system then you will need to find the following hidden file to start this restore process,,,,

D:\HP_Recovery\MiniNT\System32\start.exe

double click and it will prompt you with HP warning about altering/deleting files click to accept and finish the process.

you cannot find recovery disk for your computer any where in internet.... if you need a recovery disc, you need to create one....
in order to format your computer i recommend you to format your computer using the operating system cd that came along with the computer.... if you dont have that cd you can use any of your friends disc....
just entirely format your computer, and re install a fresh copy of operating system....all your OS problems will get solved.... once you are done, you might be required to install the drivers for the devices like audio,card reader,wifi,bluetooth etc...seperately... then after those devices will work....

I also had this very frustrating problem and found that removing the battery that would no longer hold a charge solved the issue. Go figure. Haven't bought a new battery yet to see what that does and I run my computer on AC power all the time now.

try to reset display settings to default and if that doesnt work, it may be a hardware problem

To fix this, you may need to connect an external monitor and then try following: Go to the HP Support Drivers & Downloads Webpage. From there choose the Scan My System option. By choosing this option your system will automatically be updated with the most current Drivers & Software. GREAT LUCK TO YOU..

Take out the battery and try running it on the power adaptor alone. If this works, you have a dead battery. If not there's something more serious wrong in the machine.
