On the right side of the lid is a small triangular peg that pushes down on a switch that tells the printer that the cover is open. After a lot of use, the insides of the printer get dusty and sticky, and the switch doesn't move easily. Add to the fact, that HP constructed the switch in a pretty unintelligent way, so the triangle doesn't push the switch down, but the switch has to "glide" backwards from under the triangle. If the switch is covered in old sprayed ink, the friction on the surface of the switch prevents it from gliding backwards under the lid, and the lid won't close correctly. To resolve that, use a cotton swab with cleaning alcohol to clean the surface of the switch. While doing so, also check if you can EASILY push the switch towards the back of the printer. Do NOT press directly down on the switch. It's a flimsy piece of plastic that "bends" down, instead of swivelling backwards and closing the contact as it's supposed to.

try removing all ink and one by one just make sure it is all the way in securely. if that does not help its most likely you are closing the doornto fast or on an angle which prevents it from closing properly. hope this helps.

I cannot remember if the tools menu is embedded in the properties of the printer driver. The previous poster I believe is correct. If it does not appear, go to start, run, all programs, then select the HP or Hewlett Packard section and look for an HP Toolbox or similar utility that will have options for cleaning/aligning/testing the printer..

check your printer properties before printing especially the size of the paper that is set on your printer options.

I am not familiar with this particular printer but here is what I would recommend.

Remove the printer from Windows,
reboot your computer, (a reboot must be done before reinstalling the printer driver)
Reinstall the printer in Windows.

The printer driver may have gotten corrupted. This is not uncommon.

There is also a chance that the power supply has gone bad. Most of these printers have the power supply as part of the cable, unlike a computer which has the power supply inside the computer. If you have another one of these model printers available, try swapping out the power cable.

May be your late to refilled it and the ink dry
when that problem happened to me I put the ink in hot water
if the ink refill that's don't matter
try that and if that don't help you change the ink

Press and hold down the Resume button until the printer starts printing a self-test
page, then release the button.

The cartridge in this printer goes with the tab facing you, and the circuit board in the back bottom corner. Also make sure you are using the right cartridge for your printer, the printer models usable with a cartridge are usually printed on the side of the cartridge packaging.
