I have not used this

I would take a train to Nebraska, go in to the local restaraunt (don't worry, there is only 1 restaraunt in Nebraska) and buy a cow from Orville (the cook). Rent a car and drive home with the cow in the back seat. When you get home, put the printer in front of the cow and have the cow jump up and down on the printer. If the printer STILL doesn't work after that, buy a new printer.

Looking to replace HP 3820 printer with another

hi

first of all, try to stay aay from inkjet printers -- they cost too much to maintain, relative to the overall cost when you buy one. secondly, Windows 98 is no longer supported. My suggestion is to buy HP laserjet ,as toners last longer and the average cost to maintain per year , after the first two years is approximately $50-$200 , and then another two years before you have to maintain again. Spend $400-500 for laserjet and save in th end. http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/sm/WF02a/18972-18972-3328059.html

Do the math and figure out the cartridge cost over 1 year for inkjet.

hope this helps

The cartrdge cradle on my HP3820 is jammed. It's

Check the following steps for fixing Hp Carriage Jam Error :

Open the print carriage access door. Check for any packing material that may be blocking the internal components. Check for an orange shipping lock that may still be in place on the left side. Pull the shipping lock out, if present, and discard.

Remove and reinstall the cartridges to make sure they are properly installed. Lift the front center of the print carriage access door to open it. Lift the door up until it locks into an open position. Press down on a print cartridge and allow it to spring back up. Lift the cartridge out of the printer. Do the same for the other cartridge. Slide the black cartridge into the slot on the left and the color cartridge into the slot on the right. Press down on each one to lock it into place. Lower the print carriage access door.

Check the print cartridges to make sure the protective tape has been removed from the ink nozzles. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Remove any tape or labels. Replace the cartridges into the printer.

Push in on the tab on the left side of the clean-out door on the back of the printer to open the door. Lift the door out of the printer. Check for any paper jams. Jammed paper can block the printer cartridge carriage from moving. Pull any jammed papaer out.

What does the orange flashing light mean?

this normally is an error message saying printing did not complete. Mainly due to no paper in tray or a paper jam.
It may also mean you are low on Ink.
May need to consult your manual for any extra reasons for this. If you don't have a manual maybe you can get one from HP web site.

Remove tape from printer??

I don't understand your question.

Is this a brand new printer? If so there are strips of packing tape installed onto the printer to keep some parts from moving while is transit or storage.

If you are talking about packing tape, then the installation book that came with the printer will show you where they are.

There is ink but ink light is blinking and not

if its a refilled cartridge then... it might be a bad one... my best suggestion is called hp and verify the ink install procedures... or consult your manual... if you did it right then you might have a bum cartridge... replace it and try again... if the same then you might need to get your hp repaired... The power and paper light keeps flashing

This could mean that a 2-sided document was sent to the printer and the printer is waiting for the page(s) to be reinserted to print on side 2. Check your documentation or the HP support page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=75045&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
for more information.

The power light blinking indicates the printer is preparing to print a document. The resume light indicates 1) needs paper, 2) a paper jam anywhere in the printer, or 3) the ready to print side 2 of the document.

I hope this helps.
