Hi, you might need to update the fuser assembly. Please ensure that there are no other issues (ie paper jam or low toner level) before restarting your printer. Otherwise, please ensure that your printer isn't overheating. If so, turn it off for 30 minutes before using again. Thank you.

Question edited for clarity. Full make model. A factory reset won't fix firmware crashes or errors on updates. The firmware is what the machine does before the software is loaded and how it is loaded. A Reset, only reloads the operating software. Error 79 is an easy fix though. You will need to take it to an HP Service Centre if the firmware update is the issue.

It sounds like the printer is holding a print job in memory since it is showing " Printing Document" now on the display. Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue. Disconnect any cables from the printer, except the power cable.

Are you getting the message from front panel of the printer or on the PC?

If from printer
check if printer can print test page by going to set up then go to printer status report
check if printer can make a copy as standalone
if not
power cycle the printer
if still unresolved
restore the printer to factory defaults by checking to set up>tools>restore factory defaults

If from the PC
restart pc
click on the black printer icon on your desktop
click on activate scan to pc
then try scanning again
