Where as I think you must re-install your printer's driver. Because sometime the driver of printer is blocked or not working well. Moreover, after re-installing the driver, you must update that driver.

When I plug it in,the display just has dots one at

Recently had the same problem, turns out a blown capacitor on the PC board was the culprit, 680Uf 6.3V (a $.14 part). Replacing it's easy, getting to the pc board required a PHD in mechanical engineering. The cap is a Teapo brand, one of several manufacturers with a similar problem. Look at the top of the cap and see if it's been pushed up, normally, it should be flat (due to the electrolyte inside converting to hydrogen gas).

I have a HP 2800

hello there, when you service the print heads you also check the ink levels. The phenomenom you are experiencing usually comes up when the ink has been refilled. Refilled inks usually do not circulate and flow well. Before checking the service station check the ink cartridges and ensure that they are devoid of ink clots on the face plate where they supply ink through. If they are not devoid of clots clean them and ensure the ink levels are ok. If this is okay then check the service stations flow of ink for clogs and flow of ink blockages.

Magenta cartridge leaked for some

Hi

My friend the cartridge which leaked earlier has spilled ink in side on the contacts of the printer where the smart chip comes in contact. Try to clean well with a tissue paper and try to insert slowly into the printer and this will solve the problem.

If not then carefully remove the smart chip from the old one and replace it with the new and install back in the printer.

Take care.

The unit has power but will not turn on I believe

Hello,

When you say your canon unit will no longer turn on, you do mean it does not bring any light at all when you try to turn it on? if yes, then it means your printer is having a power problem.

First, check the power outlet and the cord, make sure there is power going into the printer. You can another power cord in case the power cord of the printer is defective.

The moment any electric unit does not power up, it is said to have a power problem. It might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This printer must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the printer turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the printer which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the printer with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing your vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

Please let me know if the answer is contrary to your question...

I wish you the best of luck.

Regards.
