has a bad toner cart or fuser unit is worn out.

It is either toner cartridge or fuser.
Print a few sheets of anything.
While printing, open the cover and pull out the toner.
Look down at the paper. If you see a dark streak, you have to replace the toner.
If the page is streakless, replace the fuser.

As with most HP LaserJet printers, any problem like this, usually points to the FUSER. The FUSER ensures the toner is "fused" to the paper.

Went into the Printer Driver and instead of selecting the already recognized HP 6P Driver, I selected
Generic PCL Laser Printer
And then checked off the Duplex Box
Works likes a charm

Can't be positive without hearing and seeing myself but the main motor makes a terrible sound whrn the gear on it cracks or it locks up. The jamming could also be because a piece of paper is jammed under the paper guide directly underneath the toner cartridge. If you look down in the machine you will see one silver screw on the left side, that is all you need to remove to take out the guide.

9 times out of 10 any kind of dark or blank line on these HP's is caused by the toner cartridge. Hopefully you have a spare you can swap it out. Even an old one will do as a test to see if the line goes away. The only other possiblity would be fuser film problem, but my money is on the toner cartridge.

I am not sure what you asking here but you need to press a button on the right hand side printer to open the top cover and then you have access to remove the toner cartridge.

There are few things that makes the HP printers only print half of the page.
-- HP printer is loosing connection while you are printing the page .
-- The driver is damaged and old so you should upgrade the drivers from the below link -- CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD
---make sure you have enough HDD space, and RAM. It's usually a spooler issue relating to contiguous disk space available for spooling the file. It could also be the result of old files left in the spooler folder.

If the laptop has only ONE hd partition, what may well be happening is that while the software's scratch file is large, you don't have enough contiguous free space left to spool the output completely. That could cause the problem you describe as well..
Also last but not least take out cartridge and shake it so if the ink is jamed it will clear that.

check the connection of the printer to computer and download the imac version on hp.com

GET ONTO THE HP WEBSITE AND DOWNLOAD THE SPECIFIC PRINTER DRIVER FOR YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM I.E. WINDOWS 7 XP OR VISTA.

That strip is to protect in shipping from toner spill, you're supposed to pull it out and tear it off before installing.

got to printer and faxes left click your printer and select properties then click "port" tab now look for USB and check mark it click aply and then close then try to print :)

Look on the printer, most likely, there will be a drawing with the cartridge image.
