It is requiring servicing if you can open the cover and apply some lubricant oil on the steel rod it will fix the problem otherwise show it service center.

HP Deskjet 5150 is highly compatible with windows 7, so no issue for the operating system. Now we check the driver for your printer if it has the latest updated software if it does then there is no issue.

Yes, I would have both cartridges filled with sufficient ink to print in black only. One can go to the control panel for the printer and specify that you want to print in Black and White only, in some cases.
On some HP printers you can use just a black and white cartridge, and others you have to have both cartridges filled with sufficient ink for any printout to occur.
You'll have to experiment a little to find out which type you have.

Be patient until it finishes installation, even if process takes 50 minutes, just wait.
The middle light on the
Hello.
You are referring to the Print Cartridge Status light.
First, one cartridge could be out of ink. Replace if necessary.
If not, check to be certain that the cartridge is secure. Open the cover and remove and reinsert each cartridge until it "clicks".
Also, the correct cartridges for this printer are: HP No. 56 (C6656A) black inkjet print cartridge, HP No. 57 (C6657A) tri-color
inkjet print cartridge.

Printer was stuck in "offline" mode, so deleted it
Hi,
This is not Printer or PC USB port issue.
You need to drain the power from PC.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue
1. Disconnect the printer power cord from walljack or surge protector
2. Disconnect the USB cable of printer from PC or vice versa
3. Power off your PC, Disconnect the power cord from wall jack
4. Wait for 5-10 mins
5. Connect the PC power cord and power on the PC and wait till you are able to login to your PC
6. Connect the Printer power cord
7. Connect the USB cable to PC or vice versa you disconnected.
This should resolve the issue.

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges
