Failure code 57.40

First, turn the printer off. I'd go so far as to unplug it, wait a minute, and turn it on. If that doesn't work, take it in for service. It could be as simple as a fan - or it could be the logic board controlling it. Neither tend to be user-serviceable, at least not easily.

it is a bad or print job the 1st time if it keeps popping the code then you need to flash the firmware which is easy. use a usb hook it to a laptop undo the network so no can send a job to it set up laptop to print to it, so go to hp.com load driver then print then on the same page from hp download firmware and the installer read the how to then flash it,let it run its cycle it will turn on and off 1 or 2 times then it will come up to ready. if it keeps popping the code then check your cat 5 cables make sure they r in good shape if so, then ur looking at a bad formatter board, $200 up is the price. go to ebay or look for on google a company that buys and sell used ones un plug remove to screws install formatter turn on and in the printer put your ip gateway and sub and ur good to go. but 75% of the time its firmware

49 service error ff04

your printer driver is corrupt or the files your printing are corrupt- most 49.xxyy errors are down to software external to the printer. not sure?. disconnect the printer from all network points and cycle the power - when it is ready perform a path print test ( found under the diagnostics menu on the printer itself ) and you will likely find no errors ( if by some horror of horrors you do get 49.xxyy error then you will need to replace the firmware chip - Very Very unlikely) - what to do-- remove the printer and uninstall from the workstation - reboot the PC - re install the latest driver for your operating system downloaded from HP website re connect the printer - print away !!

Yellow tint

yellow tint on a laserjet printer is typically a sign of ink cartridges running low. i would attempt to change those first, if that doesn't work, try cleaning your jets by wiping with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol (first remove ink cartridges so they dont get damaged. also, allow to dry completely before reinstalling ink)

Vertical color lines lines appear on printed page in red blue and grey

First thing I would do would be to make sure you are using HP genuine toner. Generic or 3rd party toner cartridges tend to fail about 50 percent of the time. If that doesnt solve it, the next step would be to make sure your firmware is up to date. Print out a config sheet and it will tell you the firmware version, which goes by dates. The older the date, the more likely that it has new updates since then. To update the firmware, go to the HP website and go to the support tab to find the version for your specific printer. Hope this helps.

Hello HP 47000dn when you print a ppt of 8 pages

Most 49 errors can be fixed by updating the firmware on the printer. Your issue is very common, especially if you just updated Adobe Acrobat. Go to HP.com and search for drivers and software. As you list 2 different printers I do not know which one you have or I would link it. Once you get to the drivers page look in the cross operating system (bios firmware) section and you will find the firmware updates here. Download the appropriate one and follow the instructions in the read me file to install. Post back with proper model number if you have issues and I will provide a direct link.

I'm going to assume you're using XP. I've not seen this problem yet with Vista or Windows 7, which handle the print queue differently. Sometimes the print queue gets corrupted, and a job gets "stuck" and you can't delete it. You can get rid of it this way:

  1. Click "Start" on the task bar, then "Run...".
  2. In the "Run" dialog box, type "cmd" (without the quotes) and enter.
  3. Enter the following commands as shown in the cmd.exe window that opens:
  • net stop spooler
  • del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.shd
  • del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.spl
  • net start spooler
  • exit
These steps delete the corrupted print queue, so the ghost print job will be gone. (In the commands above, "%systemroot%" is an environment variable that is filled in for you by Windows. Type it as shown.)

Microsoft has a knowledge base article which suggests using notepad to put these steps into a command file, a text file with a ".cmd" extension. Then you can just type the filename in the Run... dialog box and do less typing. This is handy if you find you need to clear the queue this way more than once in a while.

I have an HP 4600

Reinstall the old cartrige that you were replacing and see if it is recognized. If it is then the problem is your new cartridge not the printer. Take the new cartridge back to vendor and get them to replace it, which they should do if they are reputable.
