Printer making jerking noise.

Could be one of several problems. First and simplest - open the hatch to expose the cartridge carriage. When it moves to "centre" pull the power cable or switch it off at power socket. Move the carriage to one side or other and look into the far left and right corners of the machine to see if there is any paper or other object crammed in there. If so - remove it and check the other side. If that is clear, you will see a thin transparent strip that runs the width of the printer and passes behind the cartridge carriage. Carefully clean this both sides and full length with warm water and a couple of drops of detergent (NOT ALCOHOL please). Put it all back together, power it up, and try again. If the machine still makes a racket, it is probably an electronics fault or a faulty carriage belt motor. In which case, I suggest you cut losses and replace the machine.

When the scanner head on my hp 2210 reaches the home position over the motor the motor continues to run and causing the gears to slip. is there a limiter switch that tells the motor when to stop?

Open the printer wipe down and clean everything! The cause of this is dust! there are no switches to let it know it has reached the end it is only based on detection of the edge of that silver tape that's underneath, the detection is obviously done by... scanning! it is the contrast that triggers it Clean the scanner glass from both sides, the scanner module face the silver strip the white scanner cover/lid (this might be the main issue as the lid turns colour from white to yellow after a while) if the cover is yellowed try placing paper inside when turning it on if it persists try other colours or materials and experiment with it. and if you still couldnt resolve it then you have probably changed your main board with a low quality one! Let me know about this last part! Cheers

SCANNER FAILURE

The issue is with hardware of the printer. Scan feature is most expensive and sensitive part of the printer. I suggest you to contact HP support. If the printer is under warranty you may get a replacement printer or else they may give you a better option. If not on warranty you may try this workaround:
  1. With unit off, press the 'Cancel' (pink button) and 'Color' (green button).
  2. This will start the printer in a diagnostic mode. Press '1' to run the diagnostics.
  3. Press 'Enter' or other keys as directed by the display prompts. When you don't know what to press, the 'Enter' key usually works. Some of the keys called for (for example 'Plus' and 'Minus') are not on every psc 2210 keyboard. They are mapped to one of the "directional" keys just above the numeric keypad area next to the 'Enter' key. Keep trying keys till one works.
  4. After all the diagnostics, the display will either go blank or display 'Initializing...' . Wait 10-20 seconds to make sure it isn't doing anything else then press the 'On' key.
The printer should start without the scanner error and the grinding/chattering noise. Leave the printer on because the next power cycle brings the chattering noise back. But, when it does, the procedure above seems to fix it every time. PSC 2210 scanner failure HP Enterprise Business Community

Would not print from computer

There are many possible issues that could cause a printer to not print.First, did your printer come with an installation disk? If so, have you used it? If not, pop that disk into your computer and click "Install". Next, make sure you have the printer in question selected on the print screen. Also, be sure that your printer is hooked up properly. All cables should be plugged into printer and computer.

Check cartridge error

Make sure that your printer cartridge is compatible with your printer otherwise it can give you error ...The problem could be due to a communication failure between one of the printheads (cartridges) and the All-In One (AIO) or by a short in one if the printheads. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix cartridge issues:1. Make sure the printer is on.2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-In-One is busy. Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer or unplug the printer from the power source and then carefully slide the carrier to the center.3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.4. Close the printer cover.5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in to, and re-plug after 30 seconds.6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.7. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover. If you need any kind of technical assistance you can contact support cell at http://www.vtechsquad.com

Understanding Potential Problems Printers are mechanical devices with lots of moving parts. And any time you have moving parts, you have something that can break or wear out over time.
So when you click the old print button and nothing happens, what are the likely causes?
First, you might have the wrong printer driver installed in Windows. You might have either simply selected the wrong driver for your printer, or Windows might have mistaken your printer for another model, or the driver selected might be out of date. While we're in this area, it's also possible that various aspects of your printer setup might be incorrect, which can cause some highly unusual problems. You should also check your font setup because fonts themselves can cause perplexing problems if they're not installed correctly.
In addition, any new input or output device you've installed since you installed your main printer could have changed your printer's settings. (It's kind of like the last device installed gets dibs on key system settings.) If you've recently added a scanner or a digital camera or fax software or anything like that and then experienced printer problems, try uninstalling your printer (and all printer drivers) and then reinstalling your printer so that your printer is now the last device installed—and thus controls key system settings.
It's also possible that if you're printing large or graphically complex documents, you might not have enough disk space or memory to print. Make sure that you have plenty of both, because Windows needs all the space it can get to complete the printing operation.
Finally, you could have real printer hardware problems. These problems range from the mundane (you're out of paper, you forgot to turn on the printer, a cable came loose) to the fairly serious (your printer is broken!). Check all your cables and connections and make sure that your printer is actually turned on.
The bottom line is there are a lot of things you need to check if you have printer problems, both hardware- and software-related. So if you have printing problems, hunker down and plow through the problems/solutions section, coming up next.

Message saying remove and check carridge lights r

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer ONLY WHEN PROMPTED, to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken. Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or poor ink cartridge contacts. Sometimes the power supply unit must be checked as a poor SMPS unit can deliver low voltage and cause issues to the printer function. Check all the leads and connections of the mother board , the tags to the ink cartridge. Also check the mechanical settings of the ink cartridge , if jammed or tight remove motor and manually free the drive before it is set back.

Thank you for using Fixya
