1. Remove power to the printer for 15 minutes. If this doesn’t clear the error:

Contact Ensure that J103 and J204 connectors on the Fusing Assembly are seated securely into the DC Controller PCA connectors. Reseat the Fusing Assembly,
2. Thermistor wire open.
Remove the Fuser and measure the resistance between connectors J204-1 and J204-2, Resistance
should read approximately 440 K Ohms at 20 Deg C (room temperature). If the thermistor wire is open, replace the Fusing Assembly.
3. Thermal Fuse.
Measure the continuity between connectors JI 03-1 and J1 03-2 on the Fuser. It should be approximately 29 Ohms. If the thermal fuse is open, replace the Fusing Assembly

PowerBoard Fail is a failure between the wall and printer due to a defective power supply, or the printer port is going bad on the printer. Or, the printer is dying. It's been around since 1992.

take the drum out, shake the drum (gently), put it back in and if it does not work, change the drum

Check the paper size setting in the software and print driver. Sounds like a non-standard paper size setting.

check your printer scanner unit. it located up when you take off the cover. try to clean the mirrors and lens inside

When you removed the paper jam, was the paper torn? If so, did you ensure that you found all the pieces. (Put the piece of paper back together like a puzzle to verify). There could be a piece of paper stuck in the printer that is causing the paper sensor to fail.
The other possibility is that when you removed the paper jam, something became dislodged in the printer. Forcefully removing paper from the printer can cause this.

Sorry, no power switch! To remove power you need to remove the power cord. I know...dumb, huh?

Hello,

The problem you are discribing is caused by a broken gear on the drive motor. The small gear cracks after years of printing and will jam the pickup assembly, the sound you hear is the motor trying to force the gear assembly to turn. We have a repair kit with the gear and instructions available for $12.95 including shipping if you want to do the repair yourself. The job should take about 30-45 minutes even if you are not a printer tech. I hope this helps.

you want to remove the top cover? there are four screws on top, and four catches, two in front and two in back. if i remember correctly, you also need to open the access door in the back.

If all the lights are out you need to make sure it is plugged into a good outlet and the power cord is good and plugged securely into the printer. If all this checks out you need a tech or a new printer.

It may be possible to repair, but depending on how much you paid for the printer to begin with, it may not be worth paying to fix it. If possible, check with either the manufacturer of the printer, or the place you purchased it from, and see if there's still any warranty available for the unit, and you may be able to get it repaired that way, without spending a lot of money. If it's not under warranty, it may be a little more economically viable to simply purchase a new printer. There are lots of different models and styles to choose from, and you can get some pretty basic ones for a decent price. Epson, Canon and HP are probably the 3 most popular brands by name, and have good pricings.

You're right about the cartridge and I suppose cleaning it means all the toner that the generic cartridge dumped. Turn off the machine, take out the cartridge and use a vacuum cleaner and a soft brush to get that extra toner out. After that use a soft cloth (not terry) to wipe down the inside.

This can be one of two

Print cartridge (you can do it, replace toner cartridge)

or Fuser (needs to go to doctors)

stop a print half way threw to confirm that it is print cartridge, good chance it is.

Is there toner streaks on the drum?
Remove toner cartridge and push back the drum cover (on bottom)to check. Could be just another bad cartridge.
If the drum is clean, then it's coming from the fuser. You can have it replaced /rebuilt, but I personally wouldn't spend any money on this one.

You need a "usb" (the connector on your laptop), to "parallel" (the connector on the printer) adapter. May be hard to find these days as parallel printer ports are fairy obsolete, but they may have one.

The drum shutter connected to the cartridge? Did you dislodge it? it will just push back as you install the cartridge if it is seated properly

Check to make sure you have the correct driver installed for this printer.

it's possible that the power switch alone just needs cleaning. Take it apart down to seeing the copper contacts and then polish the copper contacts with emory cloth.
