This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

It sounds like you have the fax reception mode set for manual instead of automatic. Not sure on this model, but there is either an option in the setup menu for the printer or a button right on the control panel that changes this option. You want automatic mode turned on.

Sounds like you have already followed most of these steps, but look at this page and make sure you're performing the steps as described (and shown) on this page. If you've done everything as described and you're still having problems, you may have a damaged printer that needs to be serviced.

Try using the HP Print Diagnostic Utility in Windows

cannot print, msg shows Error carriage jam, Open door, clear carriage jam, and then press o.k. to continue.
paper has been cleared , opened door and even took off back compartment

Try this....when you go to print click on properties and then
color....then print in greyscale. It should then print much, much more
quickly. I had the same problem and it appears that when you print in
color on a network, it uses the graphics mode rather than a text.

Pop could have been internal power source exploding. If the printer is new or under warranty, return it. If it's old, you're probably better off buying a new one.

You either need to set the all in one to auto answer or hit the start button when it rings to pick up.

You have to select the operating system of your PC then click next. Download the driver and install it to your computer by clicking the run setup and follow the wizard.

I had this same problem. I changed the phone cord to a 2 conductor DSL phone cord. Problem solved. Try it. It should work for you.

I had this problem and had to re-install the software. It might have been caused by installing a second HP printer, or perhaps from unplugging the printer to move it. Don't know.

Click Start and then go to Printers and Faxes (XP), Printers(Vista), Devices and Printers(Win 7)
1. Right Click on your printer Icon 2. Go to Printing Preferences 3. Click the Features Tab 4. At the bottom of the window you will see Printer Services or Device Services. Click on it. 5. Choose Align Printheads on the list.
Try Printing Again. I hope I was able to solve your problem. :)
