A thing known as BIOS or Basic Input Output System or system BIOS has been configured for security. When after the system starts, you are unable to boot up or go past the password due to a password. Try this:
To delete or disable the Power On password:
Shut down (Power down) the system and disconnect the power cord from the outlet
or the system unit.
Remove the chassis cover.
On the system board, remove the jumper on pins 1 and 2 of header E49 and place
only on pin 2.
Replace the chassis cover and reconnect the power cord.
- OR -
Remove the E49 jumper (green) next to the battery. Make note of whaere jumper was (pin 1-2 or 2-3).
Power on the computer, enter bios (Setup), F10 or F2 (I don't recall if they changed the key)
Disable 'Power On Password'
Switch off PC and replace the jumper.

HP DC5000 SFF
Well it could very well be the power supply. But it wouldn't hurt to test it with another power supply first just to see. Open it up and unplug the power supply from the board and plug up another power supply from almost any computer and turn it on and see if it lights up. You will have to plug up the hard drive to if you want to see if your hard drive will work and you can even plug up your cd roms too.
If after you plug up a working power supply and you get nothing then you know it could be the board, the processor, or just a hard drive or cd rom setting not set right. Or it could simply be the extended memory. It can be alot of different things. You just have to start somewhere until you find it.

TOWER WOT START UP
First
to be check is your power supply. Used power supply or brand new ones,
does not matter as long as it is working properly, with correct voltage
and ampere rating. Check your power supply with a voltmeter. Please take
note also the total watts you need.. If your power supply is running
good, problems will go down the line, the Motherboard. Remove all
devices (hard disk, cards, memory, etc) just the motherboard, just to
see if the motherboard is working right. Your should be hearing a beep
sound indicating that the board is alive. If yes, you may reinstall the
rest of the devices you removed.

My hp compaq wouldn't let me turn it off or reboot
Your computer has an hardware problem, you should open the computer if you have two memory chip inside carefully take one out start the computer if it comes this mean that is bad memory. If it does not come on take out the other memory and put back the first one into the computer and start the computer. If you still have the problem you need to try another video card in the computer if the problem still exist you need to replace the CPU because it would be the device that is causing the problem.

Where are the SATA ports on the hp compaq dc5000
Hello,
To the best of my knowledge and working with HP/Compaq for over 8 years, this model does not have SATA ports on the motherboard unless someone has customized your system with a new board other than that which came as the original board.

Cannot open it
Do you mean open the case?
if so, there shouold be a pad on either side of the case when you look at it face on. The pads are near the front. If you press these both in at the same time and pull, the case front & lid should come off

How do I unlock hp 530 laptop?
Inside of the computer you will see a small yellow(likely) button. Press and hold for about 5-7 seconds and then try, This is the CMOS reset button. If that does not work you can always remove the battery for a few seconds and that will work. This will also reset any bios settings you have saved to default.

How do I open my HP dc5000 minitower desktop?
Whatever you do, do *NOT* turn it on for a few days.
First, shake it and tilt it, to drain the water.
Let it sit at "room temperature" for 3 to 5 days.
Shake it and tilt it every few hours, to help drain it.
Then, look for "buttons" on the sides of the case.
Push those buttons, and slide the lid off.

Pc hp dc 5000 sff does not power on, a red light
sounds like you have your answer, your computer is hosed. unless you want to keep swapping parts to try to see if it's memory or cpu, I'd just get a new motherboard/cpu/ram combo (they've come a long way since you got that computer, I'll bet)

Seeing Red!
Open Control Panel and select "Display". Check on the "settings" tab what colour settings you have on for your monitor. Try putting this up to the highest quality and see if you get a change. try the others if not.
Do you have your windows XP fully updated to Service Pack 2 and all the latest auxiliary updates? If not, do that (go to windows update from control panel).
Are you using microsoft internet explorer as your browser? if so, and especially if the problem is a recent one, update internet explorer (latest version is 7.0.5730.11). to check this, open IE and select the help menu, select "about Internet Explorer" and it will tell you the version you are running.
If none of the above helps, then open IE and select the tools menu, and select "internet options". Select the "advanced" tab. Check that "enable visual styles on buttons and controls in webpages" is on. check the section "multimedia" write down what you currently have (in case you need to change back), then change them all to on.
Restart your computer after trying each thing.
Hope this helps, please ask again if no joy
