How di i set my compaq presario sr1265cl to factory settings
You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :-

I have a serious problem
Hi there, please try this solution, no promises as it appears yo may have a fatal HDD error ot virus:
1. Power on the computer
2. Press F10 repeatedly when you see the HP or Compaq logo.
2. When the recovery screen appears, press Next and then Yes to perform a non-destructive recovery.
3. To perform a destructive recovery, click Advanced and then Yes.
4. After the recovery is finished, the PC will reboot.

Whenever I am trying to
press F11 on start and see if it wants to boot in safe mode.. ..if you manage to boot it ..it means that it is just a setting from the video card made wrong ..and I suggest to reinstall the video card ..
If it do not boot atall ..and just beeps a sec and shuts down ..open it and see if the CPU cooler is spinning ...and also check the Ram memory ...If you have more than one units for ram ...remove them one by one ..and try to boot the computer with one at he time and see if any of them is damaged..
In case the ram memory is damaged..the computer will actually not boot at all ..and will not show the device check on start ...but just spins the hdd and clicks in a loop ..
If the computer shows the devices..but goes off when windows is trying to start it needs eiter the video driver to be reinstalled to correct any odd settings ..or the operation system is unable to start and this is cause by the hdd not being detected or a malfunction of the operation system ...In this case..check the HDD to work well ..or reinstall the OS..

The cpu will start up and I can hear the drive
Switch on again. Try if it boots up and beep. IF it doesn't beep and don't display, there's a problem in the connection of SATA or IDE from motherboard to HDD.
If you can hear the drive working, I suspec`t it is the system fan which is working. But if it doesn't beep at all, your motherboard is in problem, You have to purchase new one with the same specs that is compatible to your memory and processor.
Blessings.

Replacing monitor.
What type of monitor do you have? Most monitors will come with a DVI-to-VGA adaptor.(Sometimes and some models.) Also, when you say the monitor will not power on, do you see a message like "No signal detected" or anything like that or do you get nothing what so ever?
To verify it's not your system, connect a VGA monitor to your computer to see if it works. If it does, you know it is the monitor. Good luck.

Hard Drive Problems
I suspect that the ribbon cable (seatbelt looking cable) in the computer has possibly come loose. Especially if both HDD's can't be seen.
Possible too that the CMOS has lost the specifications of the HDDs. Press F2 or DEL key while booting (depends on the CMOS/computer type).
Or, both hard drives have gone bad, which is unlikely that both at the same time went out.
Please rate FixYa! or clarify with more information or testing results.
