Ok, this is how it is on most brands. Click on Start > All Programs..Look for Sony Webcam folder, it will contain a link to the webcam. Click on it and the camera will turn on.
You can also video chat with someone on MSN or Yahoo or Google chat. When you click on video chat, the webcam automatically turns on.

Try and double chek all settings relate to keyboard and mouse by following below steps.

go to control panle- Mouse, double check it has not changed the settings the way normally works for left-right click and wheel.

regarding keyboard, go to control panle- regional and language settings. double check all settings are fine there.

if you dont get luck with anything, you might have Sony utility relate to keyboard/mouse. you can search for that program from start menu and within all programms.

Hi There, there are two things that may be going on here. Your system has a real problem with the audio drivers, or it is a virus that is simulating error messages.

The least expensive place you will find right now is Ebay, Look for that model, search for the lowest price with shipping.

Make sure nothing is plugged in / or in the DVD drive like memory stick / DVD / CD etc.

Retry. if still no go,

Start up in safe mode and see if it starts that way.If it boots into BIOS see if drive is listed.

If still no go a failed HDD is indicated.

It is what is called the "Black Screen of Death (BlSod)/(KSOD)" if you are using Vista or the later Windows 7. There are many causes for the BiSod/KSOD... some may say it is due to Micro**** updates and patches or as what Micro**** claims that is is due to malware infection, most likely something from the Daonol family of Trojans.

Google for it or I'll share you this site to give you some insights of the BiSod/KSOD.

For a fix you may follow these steps:


After the black screen with cursor appears, press the shift key several times (5 to 10 times). A window should appear that reads “Go to the Ease of Access Center to disable the keyboard shortcut.” Click on that item, then follow these instructions:

1. In the explorer window that appears, clear the address entry and type MSCONFIG then press enter. Run MSCONFIG.
2. Uncheck the two items in selective startup and press apply, then restart the computer.
3. The computer should start normally. Now click the Start button and type MSCONFIG again, then press enter. Uncheck Windows Event Log and Windows Event Collector, then restart the system.

This may or may not work on your state but your last resort is to extract your hard drive and back-up to another unit before re-installing your OS.

Yes you can, but I suggest you use WPA/WPA2, these encryption are a later version and is much stronger and less likely hacked into.
The wireless router needs to be configured and the wireless card in the computer needs to be configured with the wireless router's settings for both of them to communicate with each other.

Its possible that you already have a bad hard drive. It may have crashed. Your system will not boot without the hard drive running. The computer will keep on trying to look for the Hard drive that's probably why it looks like its doing nothing. Bring your machine to sony and have them fix it. If you know how to open up your Vaio, try to check the Hard drive connection and see it its loose, if its not loose. its time to replace the hard drive.

You might have a hardware failure here. Specially the part when you said you had the same result when removing the battery and just had the AC in. This machine has NO POST this mean Hardware failure specially the blinking light concerns me on the machine health as far as a tech. I would say bring it into the geek squad to confirm my theory it will not hurt for them to take a few secounds to confirm this if there is any warranties I cannot stress this enought use the warranty this is your secure ticket to a fix if its not warrantied I would seriously recommend having the motherboard evaluated it should at least beep but if you do not get a beep this is NO POST hard ware failure.
