Sony VAIO VGN-S460 Notebook - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My sony vaio s460 does not detect the hardrive
It may be that your machine can not handle a drive of that size. When I replace hard drives I always try to replace them with the size they came with just in case they do not support a larger size.

Go to www.sony.com and go to support and then downloads. When you are there, provide the name and the model of your laptop so that you can find the appropriate drivers for your laptop. Its very easy to do. If you are not sure of what i am talking about, then just go on google and type download drivers for sony (Model of your laptop)

I forgot my login password on my laptop
If it is your Windows Password and you are tech savvy, you can try the tool at this site:

If it is your BIOS password, you will need to contact the manufacturer for help.
Have a great day!

I have a sony vaio
Hello:
First remove the battery and plug in your power adapter and see if the units operates correctly. If so then replace the smart battery. IF not then you may have a issue with the DC to DC converter inside the computer, at which time its time for service, also check sonys websites answer forum for more information on this problem.

I am having major problems
1. Disable the touchpad tapping feature.
a. Click on start>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Under Devices and Printers option, select the Mouse option.
b. Click on the Tapping tab, then, disable the tapping feature.
If the tapping tab is not available, then reinstall the touchpad drivers and disable the tapping feature.
You can reintsll the touchpad drivers either using the VAIO Care Software in the computer or from the support page of your notebook.

It is required to install the hard disk SATA drivers in the computer first. Download and extract the SATA drivers in a floppy drive, hard drive or CD on a different computer. Then, retsrt the computer by having the Windows XP disc inserted and beging the setup. During the setup process press the F6 key and enter>enter and then install the SATA drivers. Then, continue with the further setup process.
