Need the window media center re-installed

I would seriously doubt that your kids know how to remove Media Center. Maybe they just removed the icon from the desktop. Click Start/My Computer and open the Local Disk C. Look for the Programs File Folder. If you are using Windows 7 or Windows Vista there might be two Program File folders (Program Files and Program Files (x86). Look thru the program files folders for the Windows Media Player Folder or Windows Media Center Folder. Open the folder and look for the Media Player. When you see the Icon you can Right Click on it and select Properties. If the Type of File in the properties windows says Application, that is probably the program that runs. You can close the properties window and double click on the icon and see if it runs. If it runs, you can close it and go back into the folder and Right Click on the icon and select the option Sent To then select Desktop (create Short Cut). Right Click on it again and select option to Pin To Start Menu.If you just want to download and install it again.Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Download Media Player" or "Download Media Center" (without the quotes). Select a site from Microsoft that will download and install it.

Hello smith_kelsey,
  • The first thing I would recommend it to go to Speedtest.net or Speakeasy.net to see how your internet speed compares to others in your area.
  • What internet browser are you using? I would recommend Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. They out perform Internet Explorer greatly. If you do choose one of these browsers definitely setup the options to clear your cookies, saved pages, cache, and passwords every time you close the browser. This will help keep things running smoothly.
  • If you are not doing so already I would recommend running a Spyware program once a week. Spybot Search and Destroy is free and works great.
  • Next, you could do some hard drive maintenance; a disk cleanup and de-fragmentation does wonders sometimes.
Hopefully this will get you started. Post a reply if you are having issues or please rate this solution if you found it helpful. Thanks! Edward

I have the same problem with my computer and almost the reason for that is the Power Supply of your computer. try to do this, if you notice when you turn on your computer and you hear a whistle sound then it is positive that the Power Supply have a problem. Hello, I have a Sony Vaio VGC-V3M and I have just

If you can see the windows logo and get into the bios then it is not the graphics card.

Most likely cause is the os itself, just after post press F8 repeatetly until you have the boot mode page open and choose safe mode, in safe mode do a system restore, goto start bar, programs, accessories, system tools and system restore, and start from a resent restore point. This can can take a while, so be patient and let the computer restore itself until you have the windows screen up.

If the restore dosent work, goto safe mode again, right click on my computer goto properties and enter device manager, in there under display adapters click on the plus sign and uninstall the graphics card, reboot. hope this helps post back if need farther help.

Trying to use recovery disk for VGC-RB34G PC.

Sometimes manufacturers use proprietary software to start their recovery disks and that perhaps is why the file type is unknown. You say that it will not start. Are you trying to run it from within windows or at start up. All of the recovery disks that I have worked with have to be started from the boot up. The computer has to be set to start up from CD. Try that and let us know what happens.
If you need help getting the computer to start from cd let us know and we will help you.
