Oil spots on clothes after washing

Yes, we had same thing with 20 yr old Maytag and the repair person said transmission. His advice, get a new machine. Transmissions are quite expensive and challenging to replace, approaching cost of a new machine to repair.

I pull the knob to do a regular wash and nothing happens, no water no agitation. However, when I turn the knob to rinse it that works. This suddenly happened, was working before. Is it the knob?

Rinse on most washers is cold water your wash cycles can be cold hot and even warm. Problem You may have is a bad water feed valve Or Timer and possible bad wire harness at motor to timer check water valve Turn washer to regular wash cycle pull knob on will washer fill ? if water starts to fill then change washer temp if washer has this. if water comes out on all settings water valve is fine. Check the water both hot and cold that it is turned on;at faucet. Your Kenmore Most likely has a bad water valve check for hot water side clog or not working.

How to fix rust on inner tub of washer

You really can't fix it. The surfaces originally coated with porcelain which is a process where a ceramic coating is fused to the metal at very high heat. Once the rust has started there are no products that you can use in your home to fix it even for a short time; the first wash cycle will loosen any commercial paint. Part of the problem is that the rust will prevent good adhesion. If you are short on funds, you may be able to find an exact copy of your washer at a Habitat for Humanity Re-store, Salvation Army, Craigslist, Goodwill etc at a really low price and swap the tub.

My kenmore 800 series washer started draining but stopped 3/4 of the way and now won't do anything at all

Put the machine into the spin cycle and start as normal. Then with the lid open take a item like a pencil and depress into the lid switch where the lid pushes down on a switch. If machine starts spinning remove and replace lid switch. Let me know.

Washing machine moves around in the spin cycle.

do you mean the washer is walking forwards on the floor?if so check the legs,if there's rubber on them they could have worn and need to be replaced, dust could be under them, also you can buy rubber pads made for washers, you put each piece under the legs to hold it in place

Kenmore 800 washer won't start and fill with water

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If the water flows though the inlet then the flow pressure should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.

Test a pressure switch: Click on : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZZ2bDMspj8

Check this link to replace the inlet valve:

http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/washing-machines/a/7/1408/how-to-replace-the-inlet-valve-on-a-washer-dr.html

Finally after the wash the drain valve will be activated, the water is allowed to come in to rinse and then finally the dry spin with the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain off all the water from the clothes during the spin.

Make sure that a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so check the command from the program module and then the executing device be it the valve or motor or pump.

Possible that the timer controller is faulty as it fails to switch or move in the cycle of the program Use WD 40 to clean the switch, the knob can be replaced if this turns loose.

Kenmore 80 series washer , model #92281100 is leaking when I use warm water

If it is only leaking when you use warm water it is likely a leak from the delivery side of the hot water inlet solenoid. The only way to check is to remove the top and look. https://www.google.com/search?q=Kenmore+80+series+washer+92281100+leaks ..

Thats a simple one to replace. Unplug unit. Take a putty knife and release clips that secure console to top. They are located on each front corner of console. Raise lid. Unplug harness from switch. Take ground screw out that is part of switch assembly. Release plastic tab that holds switch in place and remove switch. Install and snap into place new switch with lid open. Put ground screw back in place and plug harness back into place. Lower lid and then raise and listen for clicking noise. Put console back in place. That’s it.
