I have a roper RES7646KQ2 and it will dry in the

clean out the vent line and the dryer, unplug it,remove the two screws in front of the lint filter on top, then remove the vent line, remove the back panel,on the left side you'll see the metal duct that the lint filter slides down into, take out the four screws that hold it in if you didn't take out the two screws on top do it that holds the filter duct in from the top.clean the duct out,you should do this once a year if it's gas and once every 18 months if it's electric, put it back together and see how it runs,if you have a long vent line you can stick a leaf blower into the vent line and blow it out to the outside, after you have the dryer running go outside and make sure it's blowing air outside and the flapper is opening,if it still doesn't run in auto you could have a bad timer but clean it out first and go from there.if it's blocked with lint the dryer heat won't stay on long so the timer might not advance in the auto cycle,on timed dry it counts down like a clock but on auto the heat comes on,when it reaches temp. the heat shuts down and then the timer starts to advance a little at a time then when it calls for heat the heat comes on and the timer stops advancing,it will do this until the clothes are dry so if it's blocked the heat doesn't stay on long enough to reach temp. to advance the timer.

Dryer not turning on

Yes sounds like bad timer. Price is retail but should be available online cheaper via eBay or amazon.

Dryer will not turn on.

Robert, this sounds like your motor is out. Depending on the age of the dryer, you might want to look into anew model or replace your motor. While you're in there, clean out all the lint real good! Hope this helps you!

Have roper electric dryer. That will not start.

Hello,

What is most likely the problem is the THERMAL FUSE which when it has gone out will cut power to the motor as opposed to the thermal cutoff and thermostat which controls ONLY the heat and has no bearing on the motor.
The thermal fuse is the housing where the lint filter fits into at the bottom of it, it's white in color and oval shaped check and replace it and the dryer will start very likely

Door switch broke

The drier will not operate without the door being secured for safety reasons. There is power running to the switch and once the door is shut and the lever,or the "spring" is pushed in it allows the power to turn on.Almost like a light switch. The door switch will have to be replaced. This is a very easy repair. The switch can be found at your nearest appliance store or online. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-dryer-door-switch-3406107-ap3132865.html

When pushing the start button the dryer will come on for about 10 minutes and then stop. Then sometimes it doesnt come on at all

If it starts right back up after stopping there is an electrical problem maybe at the motor start switch. If you have to wait for an hour before it will start again then the problem might be that the motor needs to be cleaned of a lint build up.

Roper dryer res7648kq0, replaced heat element,

Wow.
In electric dryers with an AUTO cycle; the heater runs on 220 volts, but the timer motor runs on 110 volts. There is a resistor in the system to cut down the voltage. If the resistor is bad, you will see the same symptoms as if a thermostat was bad. The timer motor will not run in the automatic cycle. You need to make sure that you test for continuity in the resistor.
I've looked at two parts diagrams for your washer and cannot find a sensor anywhere in either, so the thermostat is what tells the timer to advance once the dryer reaches a preset temperature.
The thermostat will only tell the timer to advance if the dryer reaches the proper temperature, if you have some clogging in the vents, the dryer may never reach the proper temperature, and thus not advance on the auto cycle. but i'm sure you've probably checked that. I'm baffled. Let me know how it pans out if you can. Thanks. I'm still trying to find a wiring diagram for that model.

thanks,

Mike

Have Roper RES7646KQ0 Electric dryer and the lkight comes on , it makes a humming noise when you turn the dial, but does nothing when you hit the start button. help!

What has occurred, before your problem, voltage problem, lightning strike, possible heating problem ? Check your breaker, turn off then on to make sure there is complete circuit. If not that, bad timer possible or open thermal fuse. Would be my thought.
