I have a top loading GE washer turns washer on water starts up and then a few minutes later h20 water supply comes up and water drains out of washer
The H20 error is a low-water flow error. It could be a problem at the inlet (shut-off closed, low flow through the hoses), the inlet valves, the pressure sensor/air tube that checks how much water arrived in the tub in about 8 minutes or a problem with the controller getting the correct messages.
Since some water arrived in the washer, close the shut-off valves and take the hoses off. Check for debris in the filters (in the hoses and the inlet valves on the washer). Put a bucket under the hoses and check the water flow from each hose. If you have low water flow, replace the hoses and check for any other places that could be clogged or leak. Make sure that the drain hose outlet isn't below the normal fill level in the washer.
Check the pressure system and reed switch that determine the amount of water in the tub. If the air tube is clogged, remove the blockage. Check that the inlet valves are opening and closing properly. Finally, check that the control board and wiring to make sure that the water level signals are reaching the control board. For some GE washers, there is a reset for the control board that is described on the diagnostic sheet inside the washer near the control panel. Try to reset the error message following the directions.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model of the washer for further instructions on testing for and finding the problem.
