1. First you need Vista Recovery Disk .iso file. Can be downloaded here: [redacted]
2. Then you probably need image burning program. I prefer CD Burner XP >http://cdburnerxp.se/download.php
3. When you have installed CD Burner XP, start program, choose "Burn ISO image" and browse to Vista Recovery Disk.iso file.
4. When program has finished to burn ISO image, put CD into PC with "boot mgr is missing" problem.
5. Re-start PC, press F2 2-3 times, go into BIOS Setup Utility, choose Boot, move CD/DVD unit up to the first line with F6. Press F10 , choose YES.

Yes you could, but check your specificaion to see what the maximum size hard drive the BIOS in your laptop can support.
By installing a new hard drive, you need to install Windows on this hard drive, together with the Acer Aspire's device drivers, your programs and your data. This is a lot of work and time.
If it was me I would add an external USB hard drive and copy my data to this external hard drive.

The advantages of this method besides not having to re-build your laptop, you can exchange data between computers without the need to take along your laptop, you only need to take your external USB hard drive.

CHECK your system for virus.

To test and see if your LCD went bad you can hook up your laptop to an external monitor. If it displays fine on the external then your have a bad LCD or LCD cable.

If it does then the video card on the motherboard is bad.

Hello, the major reason of laptop randomly shutdown is Overheating, you said it is not over heating...

I will suggest you couple of things that you can try:

1) remove the battery and plug the laptop on direct power supply, then place the laptop on a flat and hard surface and then boot the laptop.

or do a complete virusscan of the laptop.

or reinstall the OS...

with a little plug maybe coming out of it , pull plug to disconnect

Please reinstall video driver from recovery partion. To do so:

Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Restore> Reinstall Application &
Drivers> Select the display driver and install it

this is pretty easy, you must remove the encryption(password) code from your wireless profile in your windows and write it again correctly, this happens due to many reasons, but it will finally work.

Yup sounds like a typical graphic chip failure unfortunately, especially if it is also on 2nd monitor. :(
