How do I install battery

Look or feel around the perimeter of the thermostat to see if there are indentions signifying location of the snap-on connection points. If not, usually squeezing firmly the left and right sides dead center or the top and bottom dead center will allow separation of the stat from the base.

Thermostat won't keep furnace fan running

You probably have a loose or broken wire to the fan relay. Check the wires on the thermostat first. Pull up on the bottom of the thermostat to remove it from the wall plate. You should see several screw terminals and the conductor wires that should be connected to them when you look at the wall plate. Check if any of the wires are disconnected or broken. If a wire is broken, strip a portion of the unbroken section of the wire and secure it to the appropriate screw. (The fan relay terminal is G for most setups.) If none of the wires are loose or broken, then you have to check for damage to the wires between your heating system and the thermostat or at the heating system. It could be a bad wire going to the jumper on control board or damage to the board itself. I hope this helps. If the problem is not at the thermostat, you may need to have a professional diagnose and fix the problem. However, if you post additional comments about your heating system, Fixya experts may be able to help you diagnose the problem.Cindy Wells (we had the broken wires at the thermostat keeping the fan from working in the past. It's an easy fix if you are willing to handle small wires carefully.)

Can a Honeywell CT87N switch from Heat to Cool on its own? Twice now I noticed it was cooler in my apartment and I went to thermostat and it had been switched from Heat to Cool on its own...

That's very unlikely. I'd sooner believe the cat has been playing with it or it gets changed when someone wearing a backpack brushes past it (sometimes the straps or zipper pulls snag the oddest things). You can get a thermostat guard to prevent this if your landlord permits it.

I need to change Trane Weathertron Baystat 239 Thermostat over to Honeywell RTH6360D 5-2 Day Programmable Thermostat?

Question edited for clarity. Installation manual, but it has some very specific requirements. You may not have the correct one. The RTH6360 thermostat does not support L/A, S, or U terminals. If there are wires in terminals that are not listed, you will need additional wiring support. Visit yourhome.honeywell.com/support to find out if the thermostat will work for you. I don't understand that, and if you don't, you need a heating or electrical engineer.

Replacing a 2-pole baseboard heating thermostat

Here at home where I reside we have an old school thermostat that has the mercury bulb that acts like a sensor, and in other cases it could just be as easy as replacing the batteries in the unit itself, usually a lid that hides them, sometimes it works

My Honeywell oil-filled heater will not stop heating at the chosen temperature, but rather goes all the way up to 80 every time.

Probably a faulty thermostat. Time for a qualified engineer to take a look or to replace it.

They all hide in the thermostat base. Load on the contacts is 24 vac standard, 30 volts max. the battery however is a standard AA or AAA Duracell battery, it is not 30 volts.... I have lost all power to my Honeywell ST699 timer

I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your Honeywell ST699 timer. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem:
  1. Check the power supply: Ensure that the power is still on in your home or building. Check the circuit breaker or fuse box to see if any switches have tripped or fuses have blown. If necessary, reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse.
  2. Check the timer's power connection: Ensure that the timer is properly connected to the power supply. Double-check the wiring connections to make sure they are secure and not loose. Also, check if there is any visible damage to the wires.
  3. Check the battery: If your ST699 timer has a backup battery, make sure it is not dead or discharged. Replace the battery if necessary, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  4. Reset the timer: Sometimes resetting the timer can resolve technical issues. Locate the reset button or refer to the user manual to find out how to reset your specific timer model.
  5. Call a professional: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to call a professional electrician or the Honeywell customer support for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose the problem and provide a solution.
Remember to always exercise caution and follow safety guidelines when working with electrical components. If you are not comfortable or familiar with electrical work, it's best to contact a professional.
