Speed fluctuating on controller. goes from slow to fast without me touching controller on pride jazzy 614 hd battery powered chair

Your controller is dirty. Unfortunately, the unit is sealed and you therefore can do other than replace the unit. I suggest monster scooter parts at Jazzy 614 HD Parts The cost is high at $377.00. If you were really into fixing electronics it is possible to take the unit apart and clean the joystick, but that is a stop gap measure until you get your new joystick. Let me know if you need instructions on tearing the joystick apart and I will help if I can.

What is the battery cable fuse on Jazzy select 6, brand and amperage.please?

Jazzy Select 6 Replacement Parts There is a circuit breaker that is inline with the batteries as seen in the diagram that i have linked to. I cannot see a fuse that is replaceable. To replace the whole cable ranges from 46.00 to 76.00 dollars. This should not be needed though if the circuit breaker is in place. I can direct you to Monsterscooterparts.com or that link above. Otherwise I need more info; a picture of the unit would be nice. The diagram shows two batteries that are 12V each with about 24aH output. As to what the specific fuse could be I have no idea if it is not the circuit breaker.

Everything works fine but won't manually turn off, but will time itself off.

There are two possible likely problems here: the joystick "key" or contact on the printed circuit board is bad/worn or the joystick is defective. The "key" is the rubber button pad that you press to turn the PWC on and off. This keypad is carbon embedded rubber that makes contact on the printed circuit board underneath. When these age or get moisture, the contact on the board oxidizes and the rubber becomes de-carbonized resulting in a poor contact when the key is depressed. Cleaning the contact with rubbing alcohol and a light scraping tool works sometimes. Replacing the keypad is a must. If these don't work then you have a bad circuit board in the joystick. Either replace the joystick or the PCB within it. PCB replacement must be done by a properly trained electronic tech or Curtiss\PG Drives who makes the joystick.

Center drive wheels doesn't get traction

I have been using power chairs for over 15 years. I have used or driven many brands/setups. If you're Invacare chair has six wheels that contact the ground all the time, this set up is horrible for anything other than a perfectly flat surface. My old power chair has six wheels, but the two front wheels only touched the ground on uneven surfaces or if the chair pitched forward. In Invacare's defense, their setup provides a smooth ride without pitching forward during fast deceleration. But, the "spring arm" tension on the front wheels is so strong that on uneven surfaces, they tend to lift the chair enough that you can lose traction, especially outdoors in the yard, etc. It is rather difficult to do, especially if you are unable to get down on the ground, but I have jammed small wooden spacers into the gap that opens up when the spring arm is lifted. It is difficult to see and difficult to insert the spacers, but the improvement is drastic. I used a small rectangular block of wood per side, almost 1/4 inch thick, and it raised the front wheels off the ground by about half to 3/4 inch. I used double-sided sticky foam strips to hold the blocks in place, but over time they eventually fall out. Maybe next time I will glue them in place. Hope this helps!

Will not turn on when I push the power button

This indicates the chair is in lock-out mode.Use an XLR lock-out key or manually unlock the controller by holding the power button during the on cycle for 3 seconds, then push the joystick forward til it beeps, then pull it back until it beeps and then release it. You should be unlocked.

Batteries fine but drain fast why

A load test only checks for current - not capacity. Recheck the batteries after they run down in 2 miles for internal resistance. Chances are one of the batteries has a high resistance. If the battery gauge comes up after running down and sitting then look for a bad or corroded battery connection at the batteries, fuse/ circuit breaker and controller power connection.

Chair beeps when off

The PGDT controller may have been programmed to go into sleep mode. If so, if the chair isn't used for up to 10 minutes, the chair will go into sleep mode - then beep every once in a while to remind you it is sleeping.Go ahead and wake it up and then shut it off. It won't mind.

Augh! This is another Pride Jazzy / Quantum motor issue. The wires that feed the motor break inside the insulation at the point of entry into the motor. As a used chair there is no warranty to you, nor are there any recall protections.Your motor(s) need(s) to be replaced or rebuilt.

Jazzy 614HD will not move. Lights flash from right to left, then cuts off. Unlock instructions are not effective. Chair is fully charged.

If chair has a tilt, recline or lift seat on it it may be going into lock-out mode on its own due to a limit switch fault. If you don't have any of these options then I suggest you remove the joystick, controller and any wire harness between the two and send them to a shop like mine for repair. The usual lock out light chase is from left to right - not right to left so this is suspect of a different issue.

Increase the speed

1) Press the speed button (two lightning bolts) up to 5-lights.2) Get larger tires.3) Have a dealer reprogram the controller - requires PGDT PP1 or Quantum programmer which is a dealer only item.

I have a Jazzy 614 HD scooter. The right tire seems to skip and not get traction

The newer Pride Jazzy and Quantum series are known for motor failure where the wires become broken inside the wire insulation at the wire entrance to the motor housing - so the break can not be seen. It starts as a shutter and is intermittent. (The motor wire's gauge / strand count is too low for the repeated flexing when the motor articulates during acceleration and deceleration)Eventually the break completely and you are stuck. If the chair is less than 18 months old take it back to the dealer and demand a warranty replacement. If they don't fix it then contact your State Attorney General regarding elder and disabled abuse. Seriously!

How do you stop the headreast on the Jazzy 614HD from rattling?

It may be that the handle lost its spring. The spring should push the handle into the head of the adjusting screw. If you have a Jay back or similar modular back you hay have a loose mounting bracket on the backrest.

Code 5 error

There are several different controllers used on this model. The most common is the PG Drives models. If you have 5 bars flashing on a PG Drives joystick this indicates an issue with the right motor. There is a known issue with the Pride motors in that the wire inside the insulation breaks, causing and open and the fault code. Check the motor with a meter at the connector. If it reads over 2 ohms or infinity then you need the right motor replaced... or rebuilt.

I have a pride 614 hd, it it is clicking on the

These are known for having bad motors. More specifically the motor wiring is bad. The leads that go into the motor housing flex and break the strands of wire inside the wires insulation. This causes the jerking and jumping. Check the motor name if the maker's name starts with and E then this is likely the issue. You can flex the motor wiring when the wheels are disengaged or off the ground and see if you can repeat the problem. If its under 18 months old demand a waranty replacement motor from Pride.

Jazzy 614HD goes into lockout. We can get it out

Make sure any seating system is completely down and in DRIVE position. When chair is unlocked, wait 5 seconds, shut chair off, wait 5 seconds, turn chair back on. Each time you turn the chair on you need to wait 5 seconds for the POST to complete before moving the joystick.
