Can not get wireless connection on asus notebook

Hi,

Try resetting the network adapter.

On the bottom right hand side of the desktop you will see the wireless icon, right click on that ans click on troubleshoot problems. This will reset the adapter and assign an IP address for your your PC.

When its done try to connect to the internet.

If this advice does not help please post back.

Good luck.

I skpe using my Asus, and my microphone does not

Hi

Are you sure that this laptop has a build in microphone? or are you using a external microphone?

in either case the most likely problem is that the skype sound settings on the input are wrong.

open skype, tools, options, then the audio settings page.
On the microphone, try all the possible options offered and see if it detects your voice, you can also try calling the skype test number / echo123.

a03a5d9.jpg
When you see the volume bar light up green like this as you speak or tap the microphone its working.

If you are using a external microphone, are you sure you have it on the right slot? Try the other plugs on the laptop and then go over the options again and see if you get sound.

You should also check from volume control that the microphone is not muted.

To check that open up start -> control panel -> sounds -> recording -> select the microphone and click properties -> check the levels tap and make sure its not muted and its turned up to full volume.

also some microphones have a on off switch on the wire, make sure its turned on.

By now you should be able to talk on skype.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks,
Ekse

I have an asus z7100 laptop and just reloaded

I would agree with clb199 mostly, I'd certainly try a different power supply before dropping any money on a repair. A lot of times a loose connection can cause the backlight to brighten and dim as it goes from AC to DC to AC again.. does it do this even when the AC adaptor is unplugged

Could also be the FL inverter going bad.. but usually the screen would go from lit to black (but you could see the display in bright light) if that were the case.

Try plugging in an external display and see if that display does the same thing.

Last but not least, boot your Windows XP (or any other bootable) disc. Does the screen still flicker when you are in the boot menu or does it only do it after Windows loads? If it only does it when logged into Windows then it is a software issue and we can troubleshoot further from there. (you can test this without a disc by rebooting your PC and loading the BIOS setup, usually the F2 key)

Keep us posted or PM me directly.

Says connect to internet but won't access internet

your only connected to the router...and the router did not assign an IP Address

If your trying to get on the internet with a wireless connection.and running WINDOWS, .and I am assuming you DO have a wireless router all set up and configured to broadcast the signal (not hidden) ... first try this

try resetting the router (disconnect the power to it for a few minutes) next --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---TRY IT NOW---if still no luck, then---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click oin your wifi card and choose properties--highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router?
You will need your SSID to logon to the router(internet)

Brand new ASUS - won't install windows dialog box

It could be several things, if you are just starting the computer for the first time, it may have encountered an error on the installation media.
Are you using a DVD or CD for the installation? Try cleaning it and retry.
If this is the first time you have attempted it, retry.

If still fails use the emergency disk that comes with all asus machines.

I have a asus m6000 laptop the power supply green

Hello.

The most common reasons are the power adapter/cord and power jack.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Also, power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

Hope this helps.

My screen went totally black, I have taken out my

Please follow the diagnosis outlined in this article to check whether the backlight lamp or the inverter board are the root cause of the problem or not:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r6430776-troubleshooting_laptop_power_failures

If you connect the external monitor & nothing is displayed on it, then this means that both the backlight lamp & the inverter board are fine. The main indicators in these cases are the sound, and the hard drive LED on the laptop case. If the laptop sounds just like it always does for a minute or two after being turned on, it means it's going ahead and booting the operating system, but the video processor or part of the motherboard circuit for video output has failed. If the laptop just sits there and beeps when you turn it on, or if you hear the fan but not the hard drive chuckling with its active LED flashing away, it means the laptop isn't getting as far as trying to boot the operating system. While this could be due to any number of hardware problems, the most common and easiest to
troubleshoot or repair is RAM failure. If your laptop has two RAM modules installed, try booting with just one and then the other in the primary slot. If your laptop only has one RAM module, you might consider buying one online from a site with a good memory selector, like Crucial.com.
