Galanz Microwave Oven - Unable to disable child lock
Galanz's website seems to be useless. I tried finding information but kept being told "no data available." So while I can't tell you where to find the manual, here's something to try. Most microwaves get put into lock by pressing and holding one of the buttons for longer than normal, or by pressing one of the buttons several times in a row. Some ovens use the TIMER button. It won't be one of the number keys, but one of the function buttons. So start with a button, press and hold it for at least 5 seconds before you let go. If nothing happens then try another button. If that doesn't solve the problem, then try pressing each function key several times before moving on to the next one. If that still doesn't get it going, maybe a store in your area that sells Galanz will take a look at the book for you. The process should be the same for any similar model.
My Miel oven 387b-2 is beeping. Any thoughts as to why?
Hi,
Please ensure that your over door is properly closed. You can also clean the oven and check whether the beeping goes away. Lastly, you can retrace your actions with the oven and think to the last time that it wasn't beeping (or just before it started) and remember what you had done to the oven. Otherwise, checking the product manual troubleshooting section would be the next step to take.
Thank you.
My Fagor microwave not heating but still working
Hi,
please power cycle the microwave before testing again. If still not working, please hit the cancel button 3 or 4 times before attempting again. Otherwise, you might take it to your nearest Geeksquad/bestbuy.
Thank you.
Breville BOV900 timer doesn't count down, it just flashes.
It's a known door hinge switch problem. Remove the 2 torx screws on the bottom of each side, remove the 10 Phillips screws on the back, remove the 3 deep Phillips screws on each bottom outside edge.
Pull the bottom edges out and slide the housing off the back. It's held tight by a rubber strip around the front of the unit.
Locate the hinge on the left side and note that it is not pressing down the lever that indicates the door is closed. Bend the lever down so the hinge clears the top and depresses the switch. Test closing the door a few times to be sure the hinge clears the lever and is able to depress it when the door is closed.
Seat the rubber seal and carefully slide the housing forward being sure the housing tabs are seated tight around the rubber sealing strip. Replace all the screws starting with the bottom.
The door will close easily and the time will be working again.
Estimated time for repair: under 30 minutes.
Tools: Torx 10 screwdriver, small Phillips screwdriver, plyers to bend switch lever.
Microwave made a gunshot sound but continues to heat
You did not post the make and model number. The only thing in a microwave that would make a sound like that is the high voltage section that runs the magnetron. There may be a problem with the high voltage capacitor or the wiring and the diode in that section may be arcing to the chassis. The worst case scenario is not an destructive event it is a short that causes it to fail totally and could possible result in a fire.
I have a GE Microwave Oven/Dual Element Browner
Hi Dave in LA,
The wave gude cover is replaceable, the part number is1085082. The reason for arcing through is typically a splatter of food stuck to the cover and then the heating waves overcooked or burned it. Carefully replace the cover (panel), look for any burned spots behind the cover, if the wave guide is burned through, the Microwave is unrepairable. If the waveguide has small arc spots you can carefully clean (sandpaper) and use touchup paint to recoat. I hope this helps and if it does, please let us know!
