It sounds like you may have sheared a gear tooth off the roller drive or the traversing mechanism. If you are getting copies just leave it alone.

I'm having the same problem. I installed a new cartridge but didn't fix the problem.

It depends on how you feed the check leaf in the printer.
To obviate this problem please take out a print of the check on a plain paper may be A4 size. Then super impose the check leaf on it to see what adjustment can be made so that the print comes on the line. Once you have finalized the position place the check accordingly in the feed tray to get the required printing.

sounds like the jam has occured in the fuser area, if the fuser unit is not user changeable then a technician will have to be called.
