This would be an issues that is a result to drying. Are you using Canon inks? All manufacturers of printers use a wipe cleaning.. So try to run a few cleaning run from the canon software. If the cleaning doesn't help then the print head could be plugged with ink. http://www.ehow.com/how_2006950_clean-canon-cartridge.html instruction on how to clean.
There is a collection area in the printer that when the print head are not in use they rest over. It usually has a sponge\foam material. It collects excess ink and keeps the print heads clean. Any way, waste ink near full means it needs to be changed.
These reset procedure will clear the error 343 or waste ink tank full.

Hey!With the printer on just open the cover and the HEAD unit will move to the centre and u will be able to take out the cartridge u need and replace it!!Good Luck!!
Please repost your question in full detail, include the brand and model of your device, and anything else that you feel might be relevant to the problem. With the current details you have provided I'm unable to offer you any assistance.
Hi! As a first course of action please try this. Unplug the printer from power source and press the power button for 10secs. while the printer is unplugged to reset the system and get rid of the problem. If it still exists then it's really a print head failure which will require replacement. But replacement parts and labor will surely cost you so I strongly suggest that you get a new one which will give you a better deal. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
Oh dear, that means the motorized mechanism inside the printer that moves the print head has failed. I have seen it numerous times with these MultiPass printers... About the only thing you can try is simply unplugging the printer for a good 2 minutes, then replugging it in and hoping it "kick-starts" the motor. At best this is a temporary fix and it will happen again sooner than later. Many times this does not fix it either, that means the motor has already completely failed.
It can be repaired but it is very cost prohibitive... It is much less expensive to just replace the printer unfortunately. If you happened to buy this printer within 5 years (you probably did) AND used a major credit card (not a debit card) then it may be covered under your credit cards automatic electronics warranty. Many credit cards do this. Hopefully this scenario is the one you are in... and can call the card company to file a claim on the printer and get a refund.
Regardless though you will want to get a new printer... An equivalent, well better one really, can be had for $79 with free shipping and no tax. Check this one out:
We don't make any money off you buying a printer so please don't think I'm just saying that to try and get you to buy a new one, I assure you it is hardware failure you have on your printer.
Remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels. Use head cleaning before a test is taken . It is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the command , can be an issue with ink drying , can also be poor ink cartridge contacts
Try this simple trick. Remove all the cartridges, Shut down the machine, unplug all the cables, clean the gold contacts on the printer and on the cartridges using a cotton bud or soft brush dipped in spirit/alcohol/acetone, clean them gently [be careful while doing this, never touch the print head and the gold contacts with your hands]. Leave the machine Off for few minutes [10 minutes will do], tap the power button several times.
Steps to reset:
Now reconnect all the cables, install the cartridges (if the carriage is at the middle, if not, install it after it's On). Now power on the machine. Install the cartridges (if you haven't installed them), now turn off the machine, turn off the main switch, open the front lid (so that you'll see the carriage compartment), press and hold down the power button, again turn On the mains switch, and close the Lid while you still hold down the power button. Once the lid is closed, release the Power button. That should clear the error.
Please follow the exact steps, otherwise it'll not take effect and you'll only waste your time.
Here's a youtube tutorial for you:

1-press the "menu" key2-press the"copy" key3-press the"#" keyscroll thru the menu heading until you come to "counter"press "ok"press "menu"and select "clear all" it will ask you to "please wait"then press menu two times, restart your printer and it will work.
Try reseating the printhead. Remove the ink cartridges, lift up the lock lever and then pull the printhead out at an angle (IIRC). Then reinsert the printhead and lower the lever. Then reinsert the ink tanks one by one; Press down until you hear the click. Close the scanning unit and hit Set to print the alignment page. Tell the printer which line in each column has the best print quality (most solid); this is the horizontal alignment. Then repeat for the vertical alignment.
Try resetting the printer (on/off cycling). If this doesn't work, you may need a new printhead. Unfortunately, this may not solve the problem and you may need to have the unit serviced. Printheads are not returnable once you install them (so if replacing it doesn't help, you are stuck with the spare.)
