Did you install the driver for the printer? You might have forgotten to install it. If you haven't installed it yet, you need to find the cd that comes with the printer. You put it in your computer's dvd drive. Let it run and follow the instructions on the screen.
Please provide comments and ratings to this answer if it does solve or not. Thanks

You could download the manual from :-
http://www.manualshark.org/m/canon-imageclass-mp390-set-up-guide-879/
It would have instructions to clean print head.
However, if that would not solve the problem, it confirms a damaged print head. You need to get it replaced. You could find a new one or a used ( in working condition ) on most of the auction sites like ebay.Unless, you need to send the unit for repair.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.

If it looks like intermittent lines are missing from each row then you need to clean the printer heads. Go to start-->control panel-->printers. Right click on the printer and select properties. Click printing preferences at the bottom and hopefully you will have a maintenance tab. From their you can choose to do a "head cleaning". Its a little different with each printer manufacturer. If you can't find it in there you can try running the actual program that came with the printer.
Good luck

Changed ink cartridges but printer keeps warning
This sometimes happens when using non-genuine ink and especially when mixing non-genuine and genuine together. Not much you can do if this is the case.
Alternatively if you are using genuine then try removing and re-inserting cartridge. Make sure you have removed breather hole tape too.
