Try this to reset the printer.
With the printer on, press the additional function keys, Scan, Copy, Scan. This should put you in the Service Mode.
Select the Test Mode - the last option on the list.
Select No. 8, Printer Test, it will go through a test routine and will come up with further options, and this is where things get a bit confusing because it now says either 8-2 or 8-3. Press the "+" or "-" keys until it says 8-3. Now press the Select key.
The menu will now say "EPROM Clear"
Select "Ink Count" - Option 0 - and press "Set"
Press "Stop/Reset" and the power switch. Wait for the printer to restart.
When i try to print
Have you performed the cleaning nozzle, nozzle head functions? you can find it under the maintenance and tools function on your printer menu.
Is there a way to
Before you throw it out and get a new one, try these things:
-run several head cleanings and print the nozzle check pattern
-if that doesn't fix it, remove the cartridge(s) from the blocked head and drop alcohol where the ink enters the printer.
-reinsert the cartridges and run some head cleanings.
-dip the print heads in Isopropyl Alcohol overnight, which you can buy from chemist
I am trying to install
You can use pen drive to copy the printer drivers to you system and then install the drivers. Alternatively, you can also download the drivers from Canon Official Site and install them. Drivers for
Canon Multi Pass MP390. go to 'Drivers & Downloads' and select the drivers from the list.

My printer will not print in red
Your printer may be out of ink, phone a electonics store that you feel happy about and ask them for a price for your ink tanks. When you purchase them be sure to take the old ones with you, to make sure you get the correct ones.

My printer stop printing and makes a grinding
This could be several things. Look for a foreign object in the paper entrance area, or paper caught inside the unit. Otherwise, grinding is usually the purge unit, and it will have to be dismantled.
