Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
Color is wrong
ARe you using Geguinn Epson inks? Aftermarket ones cause heaps of trouble, not all inks are equal. I suggest replaceing inks if they are not all Gen., the only parts it can be are the ink or ink head.
Only black will print
First, in printer properties, print a test page...How's it look?, Is there color? If not, please remove the cartridges and be sure that you have removed all of the plastic covering from each of them and make sure you insert them correctly. Then, in printer settings make sure you select to print in color.
Won't print black
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.
1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.
# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.
Black 3e won't print
Well this is a maybe solution. I have the same problem - photo print and CD/DVD Ok but plain paper = no pigment black 3eBk tank.
CRC (tasktron Ltd) (01483 776 060) are Canon service guys and they have told me it is the "purge" unit on the right of the machine that needs replacing COST??? Quote £80 + VAT. Is it worth it - I think that is a maybe as its a dammed good printer and cheap to refill - no chips! However, the ip4600 is only £70???????????
On the other hand - they could be lying! But I have reset all the main chip controls like overflow, ink absorber etc.
So it's either a new printer or £80+Vat.

Have a Canon PIXMA iP5000 inkjet printer which has disappeared
Hi,
If you go into Computer Management, (or Computer Manager in XP, I think..) and click on Services on the list on the left, then find the Printer Spooling Service, right-click on it and press Restart.
If you cannot find the Services manager, just click Start > Run > type services.msc and that'll bring it up and you can Restart the spooler.
NB: Sometimes there is a problem with a conflict between the Spooler service and the Fax service, and it is necessary to Stop the Fax Service, before you can Restart the Printer Spooling service, but only do this if you have problems restarting it.
Hope this helps

If printing from MS Windoze, then when you select printer from your application, select properties button, then on that page will be a checkbox for "Grayscale Printing" ,check it and you are good to go. You will probably have to do this for each print job you send.
Canon Printer Problem : paper twists to right when loading
I find that having too much paper in the carrier can cause this problem.
Another tip I use is to fan the paper before putting it into the carrier and make sure the guides are guiding and not holding the paper, i.e. don't get them too wide or too narrow.
Paper Feed
The problems are particularly frustrating if it's a Word 2007 document that you're trying to print. Open the document, go to the Page Layout tab, select Page Set Up > Paper and set your printer source to whichever tray you want. Apply to the whole document and voila !
Page printing
If the dimensions of the picture your trying to print are not in a 2:3 ratio (same ratio as 4 x 6), it cannot fill the entire 4 x 6 area without distorting the image, i.e., you would have to "stretch" the dimension which has white margins right now to fill the paper. To print an undistorted borderless image, you will have to "crop" the picture so that the remaining dimensions are in a 2:3 ratio.
Power light is blinking and it is not printing
It is possibly a jam warning or "printer cleaner head full" warning. Check your manual for what the canon warning lights mean for your particular unit.
A quick fix you can try. Unplug your printer, press and hold the power button and plug it in while holding the power button, it should reset your printer...
If the blinking still persist, have a qualified technician take a look at it...
